1 | What about "The Passion of the Christ"? | Luke 24:14 | hannahc55 | 114244
I saw "The Passion of the Christ" a week ago, and have done much Biblical research since then, to find out how true this movie really IS to the Scriptures. So far, the one major flaw I see is the fact that the portrayal of Mary Magdalene (who is always stated in the Gospels as being with the mother of Jesus leading up to and at the foot of the cross) as the same woman who was caught in adultery (when Jesus drew the line in the sand). I see NO Scriptural basis for this connection between those two women. As far as seeing the movie in general, I would encourage believers and unbelievers alike to see it. It has impacted my life in an amazing way, and has renewed my own passion to share my faith more boldly. I would also encourage everyone to read "The Passion of Jesus Christ" by John Piper, which gives 50 Biblical statements of the purpose of why Christ had to die. I have been using this book as an evangelistic tool to give to people in my life who have or haven't seen the movie (seeing the movie is not necessary to understand the book). But I agree that seeing the movie should not be placed in any way as a "yard stick" of our maturity level or commitment to Christ. |

2 | What are dispensations? | Col 2:14 | hannahc55 | 113901
Dispensations are the ways that many people choose to split up the Bible into segments of time and events. Therefore catagorizing the segments of the Bible, and then figuring out what "dispensations" have already taken place, which "dispensation" we are currently in, and which ones are yet unfulfilled. There is no Biblical basis for these divisions as far as I can tell. I am unclear as to how your question relates to Col. 2:14 however. |
