John, I cant disagree that it could be a stretch. However we must also realize that whatever was happening was not a little contained manifestation of God. It had to of been something that made the spectators attribute it to what they were used to seeing in drunkards and peter followed through with the explanation to discuss what was happening. It obviously was not a mocking but truly something not clearly understood that was manifested other than just the speaking in tongues. Whether they were slain or not, something very radical like it did happen. Now that is clearly there. |

Amen, I think salvation can and will continue outside the church walls per se. I think that we overrate the importance of our buildings in regards to reaching the lost. i think out there is where the majority of the spiritual action happens manytimes while the "church" is sleeping. Thats the beauty of the Holy Spirit as the convincer of sin. | ||||||

I agree that someone can and has been saved outside your traditional church building setting. However, we must acknowledge that Jesus specified disciples must be made. A disciple is one who follows and is taught according to Jesus principles. Therefore a saved individual must be hooked up to a bible based congregation to grow. Heb 10:25 | ||||||

One major problem with this manifestation is that people miss the point. They become seekers of signs and wonders and forget about the seeking the giver. They go to services to see how manytimes they fall and forget that there is a greater work which must be performed. | ||||||

Even though the Bible may not give specific reference to such happening. It does give us accounts of God's presence in a congregational setting which could infer to this and other manifestations happening. Acts 2:13 suggests this was most likely one of the manifestations. | ||||||

In hurch history there are various accounts of this reoccurring. If we beleive they ceased , then we also have to beleive we aren't to evangelize the world. They go hand in hand. | ||||||
