2 | TRINITY | Bible general Archive 1 | grace1st | 49247 | ||
The word "Trinity" is not actually in the scriptures. Rather, its' use is derived from the fact that all three persons of the Godhead are clearly described in the Bible. The use of the word "Trinity" in this sense means that there are three persons in the Godhead. A very brief explanation of the meaning of the Trinity would have to reveal that the three persons of the Godhead (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) are indeed separate individual persons. At the same time, it must be understood that they are the same in essence. That concept is very difficult for people to understand, yet that is what is shown in the scriptures. Consider that each member of the Godhead is holy (without sin). That is one of the characteristics of their essence. They cannot sin. They also share in the same essence of spirit. Therefore, they are literally - one. There is more that can be considered but you asked for a *simple* explanation. |
