1 | asking for things in vain, over and over | Matt 6:7 | gizmo | 2582 | ||
The Strong's from Greek translation says the following: vain - meaning through the idea of tentative manipulation i.e. unsuccesfull search or else of punishment; folly, i.e. to no purpose. repitition - meaning proverbial stammer: to stutter, i.e. to prate tediously. I recall my mom saying it is like asking your dad for a quarter and he says yes, later. He will give it to you, just not yet, but as a child we ask over and over till we get it or get tired of asking. It is the same when we ask of God. On the other hand, we sometimes ask for vain things that is not in God's Will for us to have now or ever. Some feel if they just keep asking over and over, they will recieve i.e. begging and/or bargaining. |
