1 | is jesus god? | John 1:1 | faith_hope_love | 91338
Your friend may not be able to be convinced by you. All you can do is plant the seeds, and let God do the enlightening. I have found a few verses that you may feel are helpful. I use the KJV, and I'm not sure how other versions read, but here they are; Exodus 3:13-14. "And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Isreal, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them? And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and He said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you." John 8:58, "Jesus said unto them, 'Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was I am'." These might help, but if he still debates it, you might have to let God cultivate the seeds that have been planted by you and perhaps others. Do you trust the Lord enough to stop trying so hard to convince. We all have free wills, even after we're saved. I John 1:9 says we have the free will to ask God to forgive us when we slip up. I could go off on a tangent but, I'll spare you! ;-)

3 | SHARE LOVE IF JESUS AND HIS HOLY WORD | Rom 8:24 | faith_hope_love | 90430
Jesus says in John 14:12 (KJV): "Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father". Did you believe what this last person wrote, about a child coming back from the dead through prayer? I did. I was so excited when I saw that post, I wanted to post then and there. I tried too, what a mess I made! It was all me of the top of my head, so I had to study God's word, and meditate on it, and ask the Holy Spirit, to help me explain from the Word of God, why I believe what that person posted was true.Jesus says in His Word, that greater things than he was doing, they would do, because He was going to the Father. What did that have to do with anything? In Galatians 2:20 Paul says something that I kept missing for a long time, and when I did see it, my inner man(my spirit) was really excited, but my mind, will, and emotions (my soul),was asking "????". If you don't understand what I'm talking about, let me just say that I have come to learn that we has a body, a soul, and a spirit. Sometime I might share about that from the Word, or maybe those of you who know what I'm talking about, would explain it from God's Word. You probably know more than I do.Paul said: "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith OF the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me." Galatians 2:20 (KJV), In other translations, the word OF is replaced with IN, so I had to ask the Lord to help me on this, which is it, OF or IN. You may say what does it matter? Let's look at Ephesians 2:8-9 (KJV)"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and THAT not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast." What is not of ourselves? Some would say grace, that we are not saved by the works of trying to keep the law. And, they would be right. Do I have the faith to believe that I am saved, because I accepted that I needed to be saved, that I had inherited a dead spirit from Adam, and by accepting that Jesus laid down His life for me, and that God said that was enough to save me? I do now, but did I need a free gift of Christ's faith, to believe that? What about 2 Corinthians 5:21(KJV): "For he(God the Father) hath made him (Jesus Christ) to BE sin for us, who (Jesus) knew no sin; that WE might be made THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD in him(Jesus christ)." It may look like I'm shouting, it is something to shout about, but I'm not. Do I in my own power have the faith to believe that when God sees me, He doesn't see MY righteousness which His Word says is as filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6), but that God sees me as having the righteousness of God, even when I don't feel righteous at all sometimes? Do I by myself have the faith to believe that? No, I have to renew my mind with the word of God (Romans 12:2) in order for me to look at that, and agree. My spirit has been brought to live (Romans 8:9-11), but I have to renew my mind (my soul) by the Word of God.So is the God of Acts, the miracles of Acts, and the faith we read of in Acts, the same today? Yes, but by my effort too believe hard enough, that sounds a little like works. So, how is this faith accessed? First it is a free gift, and it is always free, but I have the responsibility to renew my mind, so that it can agree with my spirit. My mind is in control, and by my free will, I have to let the Lord teach it what my inner man already knows. While writing this post the Lord has been ministering to me, He always does as I try to express my thoughts and insights here. I hope this ministers to others, but that is not for me to worry about. The Lord is in control, and if I am the only one who is ministered by this, it's enough. By the way in case any one is wondering, I am not trying to push the KJV on any one it's just the one I always use now.

5 | What value is HOPE in the Word of God? | Rom 8:24 | faith_hope_love | 89272
Romans 8:24 says "For in HOPE we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one also hope for what he sees?" Hebrews 11:1 says "Now faith is the assurance of things HOPED for, the conviction of things not seen" 1 Corinthians 13:13 says "But now abide faith, HOPE, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love." We hear tons about love and faith, but what about hope? Hope is one of three things that will abide in 1 Cor. 13:13, so it must have some value. In Hebrews 11:1 faith is the assurance (NASB); substance (KJV); title-deed, confirmation (TAB), of things hoped for. If we turn this scripture around a little bit it seems that faith has no substance (I like KJV), without there being things hoped for. Hope seems to be something very important, but we/I dismiss it almost as if it's invisable, of no value. So then why is hope one of the three things that abide (1cor. 13:13 KJV)? What about Romans 8:24? For in hope we have been saved, hope in what? Hope in something we can not see. What is this thing we can not see? Is it our salvation; or how the Father sees us, not in our own righteousnss which is as filthy rags, but clothed in the Righteousness of Jesus Christ, the list I think may be different for each of us. The reason I am bringing this up, is that I recently heard a teaching on hope from a minister of a faith ministry, and the importance of hope in the Word of God, was a revelation to me! As I was listening to this teaching, a question came to me, and he asked on the tape the same question, just after I thought it. Could this put more light on the scripture that says, My people perish without a vision. I didn't have time to look that one up so grab a concordance. Could this verse be looked at as the people not having thing to hope for, perhaps from ignorance of the Word of God, have nothing for faith to be the substance of? Am I stretching it, going off the deep end, or are some of you as excited about hope in this light as I am?
