1 | Jesus written about by Moses | John 5:46 | dayoak | 138566
Can anyone recommend a good book or Bible study, or supply a list of passages showing the writings of Moses concerning Christ?
2 | Can believers not be of God? | John 8:47 | dayoak | 138038
No offense taken. I appreciate everyone who is willing to enter into a dialogue and reason together, for the equiping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ. After all, that's what God invites us to do. (Isa. 1:18, Eph. 4:12) |

3 | is there a change in audience? | John 8:47 | dayoak | 138037
I appreciate your insight into the language. Yet even you paraphrase; "The ones who are of God always hear and believe My words. That is why you do not hear or believe: because you are not of God." points out the problem I'm having in understanding, since vs 31 and prior, (especially vs 23 - 30) states Jesus is talking to the Jews who had believed (put their faith in him) after having heard him teach. I have to wonder, if the people being addressed in vs 32 are the believers, and in vs 33 he again is addressing the Pharisees wtih whom he had been reasoning earlier? That would make the rest of the passage make sense. |

4 | Can believers not be of God? | John 8:47 | dayoak | 137940
I was thinking of John 6:44-45 No man can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day. It is written in the prophets, ' And they shall all be taught of God.' Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father, comes to me.
5 | believer or disciple | John 8:47 | dayoak | 137939
We agree that it is a work of God for someone to become a believer, so why then does Jesus say they do not hear the words of God because they are not of God? In vs 31, it says that Jesus is specificly addressing those who had believed him, yet his response to them in that verse is a conditional statement. "IF you hold to my teachings, you are really my disciples." Does this indicate Jesus makes a distinction between a believer and a disciple? |

6 | Someone asked God for more daylight | Josh 10:12 | dayoak | 137937
You can find your answer in Joshua chapter 10, specificly verses 12 and 13.
7 | Can believers not be of God? | John 8:47 | dayoak | 137932
John 8:31 states that Jesus is talking to those who have believed in him. The Bible states that no one can come to Christ except the Father draw them. Hence, they would have to in a sense, hear God. Yet in John 8:47, after several verses of dialogue, he states that they do not hear the words of God, "because you are not of God." Can someone give me their opinoin, or a perspective on this statement. I would think for a person to be a beliver, would make that person someone of God's.
8 | 1 Timothy 5 | 1 Tim 5:20 | dayoak | 106583
This can be a very trying situation for both sides, and both sides need to examine themselves and be sure they are acting out of pure hearts and love for one another. Have you followed the procedure outlined in Matt 18 by initially addressing them individually? Have you listened to and understand their position, and how do they support it Biblicly? Are there two or three witnesses of their sin as required in 1 Tim. 5:19? If they confess and ask forgiveness, are you willing to do so? Finally, my definition of a church is the assembled group of believers which means they are disciples or followers of Christ. Throughout the New Testament we are warned of false prophets. As you study the Bible, do you see the people in your church following its teachings or not? You may need to find a church where that is the case. |

9 | passed over previously committed sins | Rom 3:25 | dayoak | 93212
In Leviticus chapter 4 we see the sin offering for sin through ignorance, or not intentional sin. In Hebrews 10:26 we read, For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins. Could not Romans 3:25 when it speaks of: The remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God, refer to people under both the Old and New Testaments who sin prior to coming to the knowledge of the truth? Hence there is no remission for intentional sins, but a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation which shall devour the adversaries. And we know him that hath said, Vengence belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. See Heb. 10:26 through 31. |

10 | why did God have to create light? | Gen 1:3 | dayoak | 77676
The gospel of John tells us that Jesus Christ is the creator and he is the Light. Why in Gen. 1 does God have to create light? and why would the world have been created in darkness? It seems that God should have had to create darkness since 1 John 1:5 states: God is light, and in him is no darkness at all." (KJV)
11 | offspring of satan? | Gen 3:15 | dayoak | 75320
Can anyone give further insight into what is the seed or offspring of Satan using scripture to support or document their opinion?
12 | sex? | Bible general Archive 1 | dayoak | 65170
dave, Please consider the statement of Phillippians 4:6-9. Philippians 4:6 Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God. At age 13, it is only a normal part of life that thoughts of a sexual nature enter our minds. God created us as sexual beings, but he also designed a plan (marriage)and set limits for the acceptable fulfillment of those passions. (See Eccl. 3:1-8) To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven. You use the word "anxious", I assume you mean eager anticipation, not worry. But for either definition, the passage in Phillipians gives guidance. Continue to make your wants known to God. But continue and focus on Phil. 4:8 Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. It is important to gaurd your mind with right thinking. And avoid lustful thoughts (see 1 John 2:15-17) It is a trick of the devil to tempt young people with thoughts like:"What if I die never having had sex. I would have missed out!" Take the advice of someone who has regretted listening to the devil as a teen and let me encourage you to wait on God. He won't give you any regrets. Also I would encourage you to study the book of Proverbs. |

13 | Question not answered..... any help? | Mark 16:16 | dayoak | 59000
Luke, If you are still following this thread, I would like to pose a few questions for you to answer, so that I can understand where you are coming from. Isa. 1:18 begins with in invitation from God himself saying "Come now, and let us reason together..." In the spirit of that verse, here are my questions. First, Do you believe there is no God, one God, many gods, or something else? Second, Do you struggle with the idea that there is a God? or the idea that Jesus is God's chosen saviour? And last, What evidence would you present to support what you believe? |
