1 | Are death threats ground for divorce | Matt 17:20 | dalipat | 88413
Thanks again for your response. I think that divorce is a solution to death threats because your life is not only in danger but you continue to be emotionally disturbed. Divorce may not stop him from threatening your life but to continue to live together cannot help either. The trust you had and the love is gone completely after someone you loved treats you this way. I went through such a situation and it was rough and there was never a moment when I had peace of mind. We separated and my life returned to normal - I had peace of mind and some kind of rest. I was uncared for, hurt and broken. My healing just started when I left and I'm still broken inside. All I ever hoped for crumbled down and the man I thought I would spend my entire life with turned against me. I can't go back; I fear him so what is left for us? All I ever remember is the abuse and torture from that marriage. Our relationship is gone - so if we can't be together again, is divorce not the only option?

Thank you for your answer on 'abuse as a ground for divorce'. I am talking about a situation where a woman is not only emotionally abused but her life is threatened. The husband constantly threatens death and they go for a series of counselling sessions but he does not change. They go on separation and she finds herself out of marriage because of circumstances beyond her control. The children's lives are equally in danger? Is divorce in order and later remarriage? Please help in this question because many are going through this right now.

4 | Is emotional abuse ground for divorce? | Not Specified | dalipat | 88304
I have seen that divorce is restricted to adultery and desertion. What about a Christian woman who is physically and emotionally abused and tortured throughout her marriage, can she divorce and later remarry? I think that remarrying should be allowed (especially if it is not her fault that they have divorced) because marriage helps one to be stable in life and to keep to one partner. Sometimes divorce may lead people to begin to live in secret sin because they are forbidden to remarry. dalipat |
