1 | Confess sins as unbeliever to people? | Not Specified | cwade | 86869
Is there a verse (or verses) in the Bible that say: once we have accepted Christ and repented of our sins before God that we must then also go to everyone we sinned against (while we were unbelievers) and confess our sins against them and ask for their forgiveness also?

3 | Yeshua, [which means 'ADONAI saves,'] | Matt 1:21 | cwade | 86601
Radioman, in the link I posted the author spells the Hebrew name for Jesus as Yahshua, using the same prefix (YAH) as in Yahweh. I have also seen in spelled Yeshua. What is the reason for this difference in spelling?
4 | Why not use Yahweh for LORD? | Bible general Archive 1 | cwade | 86591
OOOPS! TYPO! I left out the H in my Savior's Hebrew name. It should of course be Yahshua. I'm glad entry into Heaven does not rely on typing ability!
5 | Why not use Yahweh for LORD? | Bible general Archive 1 | cwade | 86590
Great question Radioman! I would take it a step further and ask: Why do we not use the correct name for our Lord and Savior? (Jesus was not the name given to the Son by the Father). For a very interesting commentary on this go to www.missiontoisrael.org/sacred-name.html In Yashua, cwade |

6 | Memorization technique (along w/ prayer) | Not Specified | cwade | 86229
I have recently begun memorizing SUMMARIES of Bible chapters (along with my individual verse memorizations). For example, I am currently memorizing the book of John in this way: Chapter One: The Deity of Christ, The Witness John, The Word Made Flesh, The Testimony of John, Jesus Public Ministry, First Converts. Chapter Two: Miracle at Cana, The First Passover, etc. I have found this really helps me with context and with being able to quickly locate particular verses. Being new in Christ, I just wanted to share this with other new Christians. I'm sure my more spiritually mature brethren have been using this technique for a long time. Any other Bible study tips any of you have would be helpful!

8 | Does God think negative thoughts. | 1 Cor 2:16 | cwade | 86220
I just want to add a comment to this thread from Jeremiah 29: 11, “For I know the plans (thoughts) I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you a future and a hope.” God does not think negative, harmful thoughts about YOU. His thoughts are good - and full of hope (expectation) for you! |

9 | Help explaining John 16:19-33 | John 16:23 | cwade | 86210
I will try to help with John 16:23 "In that day you will not question Me about anything. Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you." And John 16:26 "In that day you will ask in My name, and I do not say to you that I will request of the Father on your behalf; 27 for the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me and have believed that I came forth from the Father." "In that day" refers to the day of Pentecost when the disciples received the Holy Spirit. Jesus was explaining that He was going away so that the disciples could receive the Holy Spirit and could then ask the Father for anything in His name.
10 | Doubt their salvation? | 1 Cor 5:11 | cwade | 84672
Yes, this was helpful, thank you! I will keep loving my friends yet hating their sin. And I will continue praying that God's will be done in their lives. In His Light, cwade |

11 | Doubt their salvation? | 1 Cor 5:11 | cwade | 84661
Itiswritten: Thank you for your reply. It sounds as if you doubt the salvation of my 2 friends. I have always been very cautious about doing that. I do pray for them continuously, but I have not been praying for their salvation (they insist they are saved), but for their full repentance and return to fellowship with the Lord. Please clarify for me; do you doubt their salvation? In Christ, cwade |

12 | Don't associate with Christians who sin? | 1 Cor 5:11 | cwade | 84653
HELP! I am having trouble reconciling two verses. I have 2 friends who both claim to be Christians. Both say they were saved at age 12. One is a Homosexual male, the other is a married woman engaged in an adulterous affair. In 1 Corinthians 5:11, Paul says: "But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he is an immoral person, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler--not even to eat with such a one." But in the book of James, he tells us to turn our brethren from sin, and to do so covers a multitude of sins. How can I "turn them from sin" if I am not to associate with them?
13 | Do demons still exist? | Matt 8:16 | cwade | 72613
Thank you Hank. That clears it all up for me. This forum never fails to answer my questions and once again I thank God for it and it's members. cwade |

14 | Do demons still exist? | Matt 8:16 | cwade | 72544
Hank-- Thanks! That's very helpful. I don't want to start a thread debate on cessation, but I am curious about your opinion on something... If demons still exist, does the fruit of the Spirit to cast out demons (by believers) still exist? cwade |

15 | Do demons still exist? | Matt 8:16 | cwade | 72480
Hank, I was going to post this question but did a search first and saw that you posted it in May of 2001. I read the (short) thread including the verses Searcher cited, but didn't think the answer you were looking for was given. You said (in the thread) the answer lies in the defining of demons. I can't find that. Satisfy my curiosity please! P.S. Hope you had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! cwade |

16 | How do I make sense of the context? | Acts 8:13 | cwade | 69990
Joe -- I have a question for you. (Please keep in mind that I am only 2 years old in Christ and still spiritually immature, but have a tremendous desire to learn). Intellectually, and in my heart - after careful study, I agree with your position on predestination. I was wondering if the issue has ever been approached from this perspective: We are adoptive children of God, correct? Isn't it true that adoptive children are chosen by their parents and not the other way around? Thanks for taking the time to respond. cwade
17 | How do I make sense of the context? | Acts 8:13 | cwade | 69871
Joe-- thanks for posting those websites. I'm sure they will be very helpful to me. For now, I'm turning this discussion over to you. My tiny little brain is tired:-) Your brother in God's Sovereign Love and our eternal salvation, cwade |

18 | How do I make sense of the context? | Acts 8:13 | cwade | 69869
Greetings brother Ed! I suppose I could respond to your question by saying... "Yeah! what Joe just said:-)!!" But you probably wouldn't let me get away with that. So, I'll do my best.. I pray for the lost, my brother, because Scripture commands it. Do I understand why a Sovereign God wants me to pray for those He already knows will or will not be saved? Nope. I just do as I'm told. Now... you said: "We should be praying that God will bring His Holy Spirit into their lives to convict them of their sins and someone to tell them of Jesus, opening their eyes to the truth". My dear brother, if God can override someone's "free will" and change their heart, and open their eyes "a little bit" why can't He change their heart a whole bunch? Merry Christmas to you and yours brother. In Christ's Love, cwade |

19 | How do I make sense of the context? | Acts 8:13 | cwade | 69866
Brother, from your response it is obvious that we stand on the precipice of some pretty deep issues here: The Soverignty of God, Predestination vs. Free Will, etc, etc... All of these have been debated ad nauseum on this forum and throughout the ages. There are many brothers on this forum who are far more qualified than me to discuss these issues, and I urge you to read previous posts on these topics. I have had my eyes opened by paying attention to my elders here!! (We may get yelled at for taking up space on these issues:-)) I do just want to say that I believe God is absolutely and totally in control. I believe satan cannot, and never has, taken a breath without God's permission (note I said PERMISSION, not APPROVAL!!! They are 2 different things!) I also believe that coming to accept Christ is revelational because our ability to independently discover has been destroyed by sin. "We are no longer detached, disinterested observers". Belief is something that is granted to us (Philipians 1:29). It is God's leading that causes our belief to happen. God doesn't animate your arms and legs, He changes your heart, knowing what you will do in response.
20 | How do I make sense of the context? | Acts 8:13 | cwade | 69860
David, my dear brother, do you pray for the lost? If you do, do you expect that your prayers will be answered? If so, are you not (in effect) asking God to override that lost person's "freedom to choose"?
