2 | Dan 12:11 Abomination of desolation? | Dan 12:11 | csd | 32372
Villa San Juan; in Daniel, the reference to the "abomination that causes desolation" speaks of something that desecrates the Jewish temple that was to be rebuilt after the Babylonian captivity of the Jews (ca 360 B.C.). If you refer to my questions from 1/22 through 1/24 and the responses that Emmaus gave, I think you will find some useful references. csd

4 | Is Daniel 12 about Antiochus' desecratio | OT general | csd | 31755
Thanks, Emmaus--csd. I know prophecies often contain layers of meaning and shadows of other events that might go beyond the immediate event being prophesied, but at least it seems clear that Daniel's words apply to Daniel's pre-kingdom of God Jewish race. p.s.--your name is also layered with meaning--a good choice for a Catholic.
5 | Is Daniel 12 about Antiochus' desecratio | OT general | csd | 31598
Emmaus, does the "time, times and half a time" from Daniel 12 and the 1290 days and 1335 days of Daniel 12:11,12 seem to correspond to the temple desecration of Antiochus Epiphanes? Those verses are often used to describe a period at the end of time halfway through what is commonly called the tribulation, but it seems that Daniel's prophecies were for the Jewish people before the coming of the Anointed One. csd
6 | Thanks to Emmaus for Maccabees ref csd | Dan 12:11 | csd | 31540
This note is for Emmaus, who answered my question about the desecration of the temple. Thanks--I am comparing the popular notion of Daniel's prophesies as applying to final times with the interpretation that all of his prophesies had to do with the Jewish situation up until the Messiah's appearance. csd
