1 | The Cross,Jesus and Mary are they Idols? | Bible general Archive 1 | creed | 45561
Luke 6:37 "Do not judge, and you will not be judged? Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven." We shouldn't use the bible to judge or condemn people. This only makes people become defensive and provokes an argumentative environment.Galatians 5:25-26 "Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other. " I agree thats it's not our responsibility to change anyone, but we are responsible of our approach when speaking to people in conversation. We need to understand them before viocing our beliefs. Proverbs 2:1-2 My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding, 3 and if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, |

I can not agree. It has gone into to much details for something like that to be left out. The bible says in Proverbs 30:6 Do not add to his words, or he may rebuke you, and you will be found a liar. (Whole Chapter: Proverbs 30 In context: Proverbs 30:5-7) |

3 | The Cross,Jesus and Mary are they Idols? | Bible general Archive 1 | creed | 45313
The thumbs up definition you gave is an american culture gesture. In Northern greece culture it means "Up Yours". I'm not disputing Exodus, I was just explaining why people have idols. Because if can understand why people do these things, then we can help them change. Any other way creates agreements and defensiveness, two qualities we should not provoke as believers.

7 | The lessons of suffering | Col 1:24 | creed | 45296
Then my answer is no. One has nothing to do with the other. Jesus did that for us on the cross. It would be egotistic to think anything we do can be compared to that sacrifice.
8 | Suffering for Christ's sake | Col 1:24 | creed | 45101
Serious illness: i.e., Cancer is a chemical reaction our body has and the immune system can’t fight it because our defense mechanism is weak. It has been discovered that our immune system get weaker when the body goes through stress like depression, anger, anxiety, etc. When learn to find the lesson behind the suffering we will have less of these affections. Death of a family member - death is different to many cultures around the world. Western culture doesn't accept death as a part of life and embarrass the time we spent with that person. In some eastern cultures people approach you and ask direct statements and questions during a funeral. example of a premature baby: It was so sad that you baby died. Did you see him? Who did he look like? They accept death as a part of living. When learn to find the lesson behind the suffering we will have less of these affections. Natural Disasters: Has anyone notice that these types of disasters happen more than once in the same locations. We humane beings insist in developing societies by draining out lakes and moving rivers from where the earth has natural placed them, or living next to active volcanoes. Then we get upset when nature decides to defy mans creations (damns, Concrete walls, buildings, bridges, etc.) to do what it has been doing for millions of years. When learn to find the lesson behind the suffering we will have less of these affections. |

9 | How do our sufferingss "fill up"... | Col 1:24 | creed | 45091
Cheryl, my point was that the story of Job 1-42 sums up the distiction of suffering. There are no differences in suffering.
10 | Differentiating various sufferings | Col 1:24 | creed | 45054
It's not about "Differentiating various sufferings" Your concern should towards learning/reflecting during suffering. The first time we burned our finger with the iron, did we not suffer the consequences and learn from them? When we are babies we get frustrated (suffering) trying to communicate our needs. When we unveil the lesson behind the suffering we are able to move onto the next platform in my spiritual life. Humane beings learned through suffering in our social, spiritual, careers and family lives. I 'm not saying we should seek out suffering no more than we should burn ourselves with the iron on purpose, but there is a purpose for suffering.
11 | The Cross,Jesus and Mary are they Idols? | Bible general Archive 1 | creed | 45041
Because in the culture we live in has taught us these are symbols. A cross literally was two pieces of wood but in our culture it a religious symbol. In American culture when someone give the "thumbs up" it a positive gesture. In others countries it foul gesture that symbolizes something completely different. So, depending on the subculture a person belongs to these "idols" means spiritual protection, a statement of which faith they are practicing or symbol of their spiritual status.
12 | Luke 2:46 | Matt 7:21 | creed | 45035
Let him ask? No one should feel intimidated from asking a questions regardless on how many time it has been answered. How many times does God hear the same exact prayer request in a day? I wouldn't be surprise if it was in the trillions even though all anwsers are in the book he left for all of us to read. Luke 2:46 And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions. |

Your comment about Lev 18:12-13 refering to cousins is incorrect.Lev 18:12 'You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father's sister; she is your father's blood relative. (Aunt) Lev 18:13 'You shall not uncover the nakedness of your mother's sister, for she is your mother's blood relative.(Aunt) And it never mentions the children of the Aunts and Uncles. But thanks for the other verses.I'll be reading Chronicles in detail. Thank you very much. Creed |

Marriage between cousins has been classified as a sin and a taboo in our religious and social cultures. I have not been able to find the bible forbidding such practices. I read Leviticus 18, and it describes in detail the biblical definition of intimate relations with "close relative" Has anyone found anything on the subject in the bible?

Matthew 7:21 21: "Not everyone who says to Me, "Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.----in other words always remember when you hear anyone claiming to be a believer never take what they says as gospel. Instead, your responsibility as a true believer is finding confirmation in the bible because this is your only spiritual guide, not a guy on the radio. |
