1 | how do I identify false teachers | Matt 23:1 | cherylkaylevin | 128059
THANKS EVERYBODY-PLEASE KNOW... I can't thank you all enough for the incredible insight and direction I've received. I am going to further my study by following up on all the guidance you've given and am looking forward to being more involved in this study group forum - hopefully as a contributor as well as a student. In the meantime, I want you all to know how important your input has been and how much it means to me and many others. I believe God did lead me here to you all and I feel like He's working through me to help stop this insidiousness. My intent is to continue praying for guidance as I approach the day when I speak with the priest face-to-face. Now that you all have helped my confidence by confirming my interpretations and by leading me in so many good directions for furthering my studies - I feel empowered enough not to be intimidated, and I believe God's Will will be done. Love and Blessings to you all - in God's Wisdom and Grace, Cheri |

2 | adroit self positioning to inherit money | Matt 23:1 | cherylkaylevin | 127992
Law of man was not broken. The archdiocese of Louisville, KY has been so bombarded with other problems - and the archbishop Kelley and the priest in question are good friends. I am seeking understanding of the Bible and of Catholic canon laws that might allow me to challenge this man face-to-face. Thanks

Thanks for your in depth response. If you don't mind, please read and respond to my additional question posted under title "adroit self positioning". Is there anywhere in the bible that would jusitfy such a concept in regard to inheriting money?

5 | adroit self positioning to inherit money | Matt 23:1 | cherylkaylevin | 127985
Thank you Angel. You're right EdB confirmed my perception – and you gave me the exact concept I was wondering about. My specific problem is that the “false teacher” in question is a Catholic Priest who is a well known millionaire who travels abroad on the arms and pocketbooks of elderly widows. He is available for the wealthy parishioners –with whom he hob-knobs quite frequently. At the same time, he intimidates and humiliates the common folk if they are late on paying their weekly tithes. In addition he did not bless my aunt before surgery as he promised her he would. When he was asked he said the reason was because he knew she could have nothing by mouth before surgery. In a book of homilies, the priest references Mark 12:38-44 in regard to insecurity, fear and greed. The conclusion to the homily begins with… “My friends, no matter how hard we have worked for our money or how adroitly we have positioned ourselves to inherit it, money can destroy us if we become afraid of losing it.” I struggle with the idea of adroitly positioning oneself to inherit money. I believe this may be a subliminal admission of guilt – because the priest just accepted a 230,000 dollar estate that was left to him personally (not to the church) by my aunt. He says she gave it to him willingly – but before she died she asked him to have her will corrected. She told him that he knew she wanted him as her executor NOT as her beneficiary. He promised to have the correction made but she died before this happened. As her executor, he was legally able to clean out her house before notifying her family that the will had been probated. As a result, our family archives, photos, heirlooms, etc. were all destroyed or sold. The law protects him from being accused of wrongdoing. To me, he “devours widows’ houses…and I’m looking for authority by which to call him on. How do you think – he might explain his quote about adroit self-positioning? Especially when he cites Jesus’ teaching about false teachers. God Bless you! Cheri |

6 | how do I identify false teachers | Matt 23:1 | cherylkaylevin | 127936
I am seeking understanding of Matthew 23:1-36; which is summarized in Mark 12: 38-40 regarding Jesus’ teaching about how we should be aware of false teachers. How can we identify false “religious keepers” when most clergy people “38…walk around in long robes…like to have the respect of men as they stand in the center of town where people gather….39…have important seats in the places of worship and the important places at big suppers.”? What character traits, behaviors, etc. are most indicative of false religious law-keepers who have found a secure title and position within the church? Is the answer to the above is found in the fact that most clergy do not “40 … take houses from women whose husbands have died….” ? Mark 12: 41-44 infers that a poor widow who willingly gives all to the church will be rewarded for being the most giving. What’s the difference between taking widows’ houses and accepting the gift of widows’ houses? How does a widow know if she’s giving or “being taken?” Your willingness to take the time to help me understand is more appreciated than you can know. God Bless you and yours, |
