Doc And others I've offended, In my zeal to answer a post authored by flossiejane, I do need to ask for your forgiveness for making a couple of incorrect statements that I couldn't back up with scripture. To answer Doc's inquiries to what I can readily provide, here goes it: The statement of "free from the law" should truely be "free from the curse of the law"(Gal 3:13). The Law itself was not imperfect, but was made imperfect because man is of a sinful nature (Rom 7:4-14., Rom 8:3). The "pattern" that I stated in my original answer was made in reference to the way God's people should live:(Leviticus/whole)(Exodus 20). And because God is holy and righteous, the Law, decrees, and regulations mediated through Moses were a reflection of His righteousness. I agree Doc, "symbolize" was not a good use of the alphabet! To answer the last of the questions concerning 'salvation'; According to Revelations 21:1-4, the old order of things have passed away with the passing away of the present heaven and earth and Jesus also confirms this in Mat 5:18. I do appreciate the members of this forum being biblically savy!! Your faithful brother in Christ, Cantool |

3 | Can we afford to be neutral? | 1 Cor 13:1 | cantool | 140489
Ah! Lionheart, I would almost tend to agree, but didn't Jesus even command Peter to lay down his weapon when the opposition sought out the Messiah to persecute him? (a carnal 'atta boy' to Peter for lopping off an ear before hand).Read, study, and then meditate on 1 Corinthians 13 and also 1 and 2 John. You see, it ain't about us. It is all about the Most High and Exalted God, by Whom all things in heaven and earth and beneath the earth were created, and His plan to restore man to his rightful place of dominion on this earth. This was accomplished through his only begotten son, Jesus! And who stole the dominating position? That's correct! Satan did. Read the first chapter of Genesis again. You will surely find that God 'spoke' His Will for the earth and He also 'spoke' His Will for man. His 'spoken' Word will accomplish His Perfect Will (always remember that God will not change). Now, comparing our time with the Apostolic Period, both theologians and secular historians have found writings and notes telling of great persecutions against the christians of Paul's time. If memory serves me, approximately 100 followers a day were being killed for many, many years. I believe my figure may be a bit to conservative. Whatever the truth is, know that the Righteousness of God by Christ Jesus will continually be challenged until Satan has been locked away in hell! A neutral christian? Hmm! Now there's a few different ways to answer this question. For my preference I'll give you this answer; If you have been baptised into the Body of Christ through confession, you have been made a joint heir with Christ to the kingdom of God where He alone reigns Supreme! And since Jesus paid the cost (Gal 4:4-5) for our salvation with his shed blood and has reconciled us back to Almighty God through His body (Col 1:22), you should seek to do the Will of Him whom has overcome the tiranny of the evil lord of this world. Pray without ceasing and be bold to witness to others while present on this world so that those who are still lost to God may be saved (John 17). Read the Word of God as a Son of God while praying for wisdom and understanding not as a disbelieving critic. You will begin to understand that you are not of this world, but reside here as royalty through Jesus's name and only under his authority. With LOVE the meek shall inheret the earth not a movie star with an AK-47 assault rifle. If this doesn't help you at all, then please, repose your question. |

4 | When is the sabbath? | Mark 2:26 | cantool | 140465
Under the 'Old Covenant' or the 'dispensation of Law', God gave Israel a pattern to follow to symbolize righteousness in order to show that His people were set apart from the rest of the world, that they were His people. Christ came to set God's (His) people free from the Law, which God knew was imperfect. He had to do this in order to formulate His "ultimate" plan of salvation which would last until the incarceration of Satan takes place. The Sabbath now is the time when each of us (Christians Only) sets aside to worship and pray and study His Word to edify our spirit-man so our natural way of thinking and acting will die so Jesus will be exalted through the renewing process, (reading and meditating on the Word of God). The countenance of Moses was the Glory of God all over Moses, such as in the Gospel's account of the 'Mount of Transfiguration". And yes, man can do extraordinary things while in the presence of God! |
