1 | What's Jesus Luke 16.1-18 parable mean? | Luke 16:1 | baileybaileys | 72800 | ||
I don't think Jesus is condoning stealing at all in this parable. I'm not even sure if the steward stole or not...whatever the steward did, it simply involved being unfaithful with the responsibility of taking care of the finances and goods given him. He corrected his behavior by having the debtors of his master pay part of their debt. After reading these verses and reading the footnotes in my Bible, I would say Jesus is using the parable to illustrate that we need to manage our money wisely in a way that would please God. Its warning against putting our goods and money before God. |
