I'm addicted to pornography. How do I stop? I love Jesus and have given my life to him. How do I stop using pornography? I know it's a sin and I desperately want to repent. I stop for a while but always go back to it. What do I do? |

8 | Is it sin to smoke a cigarette? | Is 44:1 | angst33 | 113922 | ||
I have asked this same question before. The answers I received were along the lines of: It is a sin because the Holy spirit lives in me. I am a temple (my body) by smoking, I am destroying the temple. Although this is true, there is another reason smoking is a sin. We smoke for a reason. For some, smoking offers comfort, it is relaxing. For others, smoking is a part of who they are. In short, they find part of their identity in it. Smoking is just another way that we fill a need for ourselves. This is idolatry - we become the source (through whatever means) of fufilling our needs. That is exactly what god wants to do. The good news is that God understands. He knows the real reason we smoke and he offers healing. Having said that, I know quitting isn't easy. I have been smoking for a long time. Thank God for his grace. |
