1 | does prefer mean exclude to you? | Rom 12:10 | Zacheriah7 | 74343
I have recently encountered a group of friends that "prefer" each other to the exclusion of others. While I see some benefit from this in the fact that they have to deal with far less pressure from the world, they are quick to exclude non believers and seperate themselves from peoples problems. If one of their number "steps out of line" so to speak, that person is quickly left on their own. They feel that this "punishment" will bring that person back to their senses. While some of their views seem correct,it is my understanding that we should reach out to the world, and remain no part of it. How can I convey this point to them in a way that they will listen? Any verses or suggestions will be appreciated. These are strong people just so seperated from the world that they reach no one, and non believers feel them to be judgemental and arrogant. I appreciate you answers and views on this subject In Him, Zach |

2 | At what point are you His? | Bible general Archive 1 | Zacheriah7 | 26272
Hello Nolan, When are you saved? At what point? Is it when you ask Jesus into your heart? When you decide to follow His call? When he picks you? When you are raised out of the water? At what point are you saved? When are you His? I truly want to know your opinion. I realize that I need to search the forum, but in my world of instant gratification :) I figured it would be faster to just ask you! I should be studying for my finals here, so I just wanted to ask your opinion on this point, not search. I hope you understand! In Him, Zach |

3 | Col 1:24 What is he saying exactly? | 1 Timothy | Zacheriah7 | 26256
Thank You All! I am not sure if I stated my question as clearly as I wanted too, but I received the same answers that I expected. I understand what Paul has said here, and ya'll do an excellent job of reaffirming that knowledge. I think that I might have been trying to stretch this verse into something that it is not. I guess I wanted to emphasize that our choice is important, without it, we have chosen not to allow Jesus’ sacrifice to save us. Therefore part of what lacks is our commitment to Him, along with the suffering that will come for spreading the Word. In Him, Zach |

4 | Col 1:24 What is he saying exactly? | Not Specified | Zacheriah7 | 26079
Col 1:24 What exactly is Paul saying here? Is he solely speaking of his afflictions for spreading the Gospel, or in a more global sense, which he would be saying that without us choosing to follow Christ, His power is unable to save us? I realize that he specifically speaks to spreading the Gospel and that Paul is experiencing the added sufferings to carry this message to the world. I am just wondering if the other point might be made here also? Thanx |

6 | You can fall away, can you come back? | Bible general Archive 1 | Zacheriah7 | 17851
Lewis, I think that Tim pretty much supplied all the info that I was trying to get at. I think if nothing else it provides a solid example of one losing their salvation, or at least the possibility of it. I realize the context of this passage and that the author was writing to the Jews, people who had been around with Jesus and had seen / been converted by miracles. But one is still able to lose their saved status. You might want to have a look at 1 Cor 5:5? ‘…………hand this man over to Satan so that his body may be destroyed……………? Read that whole chapter and I find that a person can lose their salvation. And then they can also be restored. But not by us it is that brother’s choice. They are not forever gone, but they are until they change. I would not be implying in any way that you should be judging your brothers salvation. I was just pointing out that you can’t live your life on cruise control thinking that you will always be saved. You must understand also that some people are going to be damned to hell forever. God will judge us and our fruit, so let us all go out and bear fruit for him, and provide the works along with our faith. Saying that you are always saved or can’t lose your salvation is a little foolhardy, you can choose as long as you are here. My friend I appreciate your challenge to me to work out my faith with fear and trembling, I am doing so, and while I too am the most unworthy and stand in awe, I know that my salvation takes continuous effort on my part. I am not saved for life; I need to continue to do the work, to live for my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In Him, Zach |

My Friend God is always in control. Beyond all else please remember that. We all struggle with what goes on in this world, there is unbelievable hate and wrong that goes on. And at some point in our lives we question if God is in control, and if so why is the world like this? All the evil that is in the world is not Gods doing, He can’t even be near the stuff. But it is all a necessity for free will, so that we can see God and who He is. So the we can be able to choose him Many ask about the people in the planes, in the towers, pentagon, and pittsburg. He was there, and each and everyone of those people had made a choice already, on wheater to follow God or not. Remember when the Bible says: James 4:14 Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. We all need to make the choice, and choose God. The ones that did are in eternal rest with our Savior, the ones that didn’t should have. Those that trusted him then wanted to be with Him, not here on this earth with all of its pain and suffering. We should be in mourning for the families and loved ones, but not for those saved, we should rejoice! For they are in heaven this very moment! It is OK to be upset with God, in fact tell Him that you are! But don’t stop seeking him or talking to him at all! God suffers pain just as you do, and he looks down on us, his little children, and cries that we could do such things to each other. You are in good company, the prophet Jeremiah in Chapter 20 verse 7 was angry with God. Just don’t sin in your anger by turning from Him. Why all this suffering, why does God allow it? Because it is thorough suffering that we find God. There was only one way for us to be saved: Jesus coming down from heaven, living the perfect life and then dying for us. Suffering and dying for us. Why? Why suffering? Because someone had to pay our debt. Therefore suffering has brought us to God. And He suffers with us. There will come a time when Satan will be put down from this earth, and Jesus will come back to claim His remnant, but until then, we have the choice to claim Jesus as our savior and accept his love and comfort despite our situation. Or we can choose to not fill that hole in our heart and try to live without him. Ultimately it is our decision. In Him, Zach |

How can you believe there is no way of losing your salvation when reading Hebrews 6:4-6? It would seem to me that you can at least fall away?
