1 | Woman head covering valid for today? | 1 Cor 11:10 | VillaSanJuan | 82560
I'm just reading through 1Cor11 again and I remembered this post. It seems to me that, while Dave's question has been addressed, it might still leave him needing clarification. Dave is obviously trying to do the right thing and has come up against a wall. In my re-reading (isn't it amazing how the scripture can seem brand new each time...new insights...like getting your soul recharged) I was struck by verses 11-16. Isn't Paul saying that we "In the Lord" have no such obligation? That the woman's long hair IS her covering (not that a bald woman is under any further obligation). Isn't he telling us to judge for ourselves but the practice is to not hold to the legalism of covering and we aren't to be contentious about it? Isn't that Paul's theme throughout with regard to Sabbaths, Diet, and all things done unto God? I'm a relatively new Christian but, today, it seems pretty clear to me that anything we put in the way of our relationship to God....idols, men, legalistic practices...is a little suspect and we should remember that "knowledge puffs up but love builds up". Are the things we're requiring of our fellow brothers and sisters done in love?
2 | Error in the NIV? | John 5:4 | VillaSanJuan | 69384
Alright, I'm a little new. However, it seems inappropriate to me that this verse is not in the text of my NIV but listed only as a footnote. Is this an error?
3 | The "Prophet".. | John 1:21 | VillaSanJuan | 65409
I just wanted to take a moment to thank the contributors to this site for their consistently sound and well thought out follow up complete with scripture reference. As a relatively new Christian I find this resource invaluable to my studies. I'm sure your posts contribute to the edification of many that may not have time to make note. Thank you.
4 | Please help me clarify Matt. 2:14,15 | Matt 2:14 | VillaSanJuan | 48672

5 | Please help me clarify Matt. 2:14,15 | Matt 2:14 | VillaSanJuan | 48606
I'm a little confused about the context here. My NIV reads "So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt" The next verse (Matt. 2:15) reads "And so it was fulfilled what the Lord had said through the prophet: 'Out of Egypt I called my son." Wasn't He (Jesus) called into rather than out of Egypt? Does this refer to later when he was called back? re: Matt 2:20 ...I may have just answered my own question...but if anyone can confirm this for me it would be greatly appreciated. Love in Christ Jesus MIke |

6 | Dan 12:11 Abomination of desolation? | Dan 12:11 | VillaSanJuan | 28900
Does anyone have any ideas about what the abomination that causes desolation is? Is it a nuclear weapon? Will it be set up in a temple? Ref also Mark 13:14 and Matthew 24:15.
7 | Exodus 26:1...First mention of cherubim? | Ex 26:1 | VillaSanJuan | 23684
Johnny, Thank you so much for your answer with scriptural references. I'm finding that there always is an answer for my questions out there somewhere because people like you care enough to respond. I always want to have an answer for someone who would question my faith and be able to give a reason for the hope that is in me. Again, thank you for your well thought out answer based in scripture. Your brother in Christ, Michael Bonin |

8 | Thank you,.....but,....... | Ex 26:1 | VillaSanJuan | 23592
Thank you, Lisa..... but, does the Hebrew lore you are referencing pre-date Exodus 26:1? If not, there would be nothing for Moses to reference.
9 | Exodus 26:1...First mention of cherubim? | Ex 26:1 | VillaSanJuan | 23589
I believe this is the first mention of cherubim in the bible. How did Moses know what cherubim were? Would he be able to tell craftsmen to weave something into the curtains unless he could somehow articulate what they should fashion them after? Also, did God give the name cherubim to the angels?
10 | Can anyone post any answer they want whe | Bible general Archive 1 | VillaSanJuan | 22917
Kalos, What a loving, instructive answer. I think the point is that people care enough to answer what they think will help. Hopefully, it is scripturally based and sound advice. If not, we depend on people like you who know the difference to correct us. Please keep in mind that there are many new believers that will simply stop asking questions, and there are soooo many questions, if they think people don't care enough to give well thought-out answers or gentle correction. In love, |

How did the magicians make frogs appear? For that matter, how did they make blood from water?
