1 | Why was Thomas called the Twin? | John 11:16 | TwinHammers | 47082
John 20:24, "Now Thomas, called the Twin, one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came." This was more than likely a knickname given to Thomas because his name means "twin" in the Greek.

3 | Bible study software suggestions, please | Bible general Archive 1 | TwinHammers | 2922
It depends on what you are using the software for. And you want to get the most for your money. If there is a number of things on the disk you would never use I wouldn't get it. Also if you are unsure about what you want shop around as the previous responder suggested. The internet has a wealth of information for FREE. The two I have been most pleased with is what this website offers The NAS Bible Study Software and The Master Chrisitan Library from Ages. Logos offers and incredible assortment of books you can add on whenever you want. The LessonMaker Series of disks are STEP and also offer many of the same books. Each program will give a number of "packages" to buy which will include Bibles, commentaries, dictionaries, but you may not want all and beware of buying the same books twice in different packages. But if you want immedite access to what you buy, all of it, the NAS Electronic Bible Library (50 dollars) and The Master Christian Library (80 dollars) are the two I would recommend. But shop around before purchasing anything. If you can't it use what the internet has to offer first. I hope this helps!
4 | Where did the word Christian come from? | Bible general Archive 1 | TwinHammers | 1151
The word "christian" began to be first used by the unsaved in Anitoch as a deregatory term. The Greek breaks it down into "little christs". It is recorded in Acts 11:26.
5 | The Rapture, when will it be? | Bible general Archive 1 | TwinHammers | 2918
I understand the reasoning behind my brother's answer, but I see no evidence of a pre-trib rapture. It could be argued from the same passages given that a mid-trib rapture will take place for four reasons:1)We have been warned about false christs and such. 2)We have been warned of the hardships people have to endure. 3)There is no place we can hide from it. 4)The warnings of the false christs suggest the real Christ has not yet returned and we need to be patient. Therefore, we have been given two promises concerning the tribualtion, if we are indeed caught up in it. First, the days have been shortened as stated in Matthew 24:22. Second, we won't have a chance to notice when Christ comes as stated in Matthew 24:27 and 1 Thess 5:2. Personally, I don't think we should be concerned about when we will taken home to be with our Lord. I think we should be concerned that Christ is most definitely coming back to receive us unto himself. It is a promise I hold very close to my heart. As Christians we will enudre the time of tribulation if we remain with the Body of Christ and make our stand together. We must prepare ourselves to live during those times of difficulty now rather than wait and be caught unprepared. I think this is also a valid teaching of the Ten Virgins parable. Not only should we accept Christ as our Savior and Lord but we should be prepared to wait on his return and endure whatever may come our way. No matter when the tribulation might occur.
6 | Rapture and our old bodies | 1 Thess 4:13 | TwinHammers | 2914
I have struggled with this same question and this is what I believe. We will be taken into the air to be with our Lord and Savior. In the blink of an eye will be called home. There will be no physical part of us left. Jesus says in Matthew 24:40, "one will be taken and the other left." Must we know exactly how God is going to do it? I ask you to read all of Matthew 24, Mark 13, Luke 21, 1Thess 4 and 5, 2Peter3,and 2Cor 5. All of these chapters deal with the Second Coming of Christ. I say to you BELIEVE that Jesus Christ is coming back for us! If you are a Christian you have no reason to fear Christ coming again. We should ready and waiting praying for his return. We should also take as many people with us as we can.We must hold fast to the promise that Christ is coming back to get us John 14:2-3. I hope this has helped. Grace and Peace!
