1 | Good-bye, NIV | 2 Tim 3:16 | SavedandSure | 33122
If you feel you MUST protest (?) to/against a company that couldn't care less (except for the profit margin), why not DONATE your NIV's to folks who would be just happy to receive a bible to read..?? God never instructed us to read the NIV, NASB, KJV, NKJV, NLT, GoodNewsBible, TEV, Amplified, RVS, ESV or any other version/translaton. He simply wants us to share His word with all the unsaved....just PLANT the SEED and let God take care of the rest. It seems we all get soooooo carried away with types of bibles (study, pew use, general reading, etc.), that we forget the real simplicity regarding God's plan for salvation, that it unfortunately gets "LOST" in the "TRANSLATION" (pun intended!). Forget the PHD's and other self proclaimed "experts" on biblical language, and get back to the BASICS of saving lost souls. There will be long lines at Heaven's gates with many of those same "experts" who will no doubt still be debating, oblivious of the fact that some of them in the "me,me,me,me--I'm right and your not" group, forgot to "get saved" themselves. If you can find God's plan of Salvation in ANY bible, and are able to explain it to any age group that is willing and able to understand it..who cares what company you got it from or what version or translation you are reading from!! It has been said that many of these so called "religious experts" are soooooo heavenly minded that thay they are no earthly good." So if your favorite Bible...yes even the much maligned New Living Translation is what it takes to put a soul in God's column, for crying out loud just "DO IT!!!" God will do the REST! |

3 | Are you intersted in Bible translations? | Bible general Archive 1 | SavedandSure | 33051
As long as God is in charge, you need never fear anything about "a loss of the intended meaning of the writer" when attempting to make passages understandable!" How many versions have come and gone...and how many people did each one reach at his or her own level of understanding before "fading from the scene?" I would venture to guess a great many souls have given their lives to Jesus because someone cared enough to make a bible more "understandable" for them. Once one becomes a Christian..."saved and sure"...then they can begin the path often traveled of learning how to grow in the faith..."milk vs. solid food." God will direct the reader in His Word, and the Holy Spirit will refine and guide them as to "word meanings" word by word, verse by verse. And folks, God really doesn't need our paltry efforts at suggesting that our way, or the highway is the best solution in these matters of translations for the common massess! He will make it all come together for all those who know and love Him...and in His own way and time. |

4 | What is "ESV" all about.... | Bible general Archive 1 | SavedandSure | 33049
What is this "ESV" I have been seeing posted here?A new version of the Bible? It seems to me that there is way too much "knee jerking" reaction to this "new" version of the NIV..No need to "ban" your old NIV from the recesses of your mind as it still is an excellent version for all seasons and reasons, as is the NASB (updated edition),the New King James Version and the New Living Translation, and of course, the Amplified Bible. Enquiring minds would like to know, however, what is "ESV" all about?? Thanks....
5 | Life Application Study Bible any good? | Bible general Archive 1 | SavedandSure | 30989
Hi...I can tell you without equivocation, that in my humble opinion, the Life Application Bible is one of the very BEST study and general reading aids to come along in a long time. I have the LAB in two versions; New International, and the New Living Translation. I am searching for the LAB in the New American Standard Bible (updated edition) as well. The study notes alone are well worth the effort, but this study aid goes way beyond that. You owe it to yourself to at least look at one, then make the decision based on YOUR personal impressions and particular study needs! |

6 | The Amplified Bible...what version is it | Not Specified | SavedandSure | 30883
Can anyone tell me what VERSION the Amplified Bible is? I know it is not NASB, or New Living Translation, or probably not even the New International version...definately not the King James version.
7 | The Amplified Bible...what version is it | Bible general Archive 1 | SavedandSure | 30884
Can anyone tell me what VERSION the Amplified Bible is? I know it is not NASB, or New Living Translation, or probably not even the New International version...definately not the King James version.
8 | What is the best version of the Bible? | Bible general Archive 1 | SavedandSure | 29975
I forgot to mention another study aid or for general reading....it is called the Parallel Bible, and contains four versions in one! Kinda "heavy" for sure, but you will find the King James, New American Standard, New International, and Amplified versions between the covers of this one bible. Another "must check out" for your next visit to the book store ;-)
9 | What is the best version of the Bible? | Bible general Archive 1 | SavedandSure | 29973
The next time you are at a bible bookstore, take a look at the "new living translation." It is very easy to understand and yet "true" in it's rendering of God's Word. Additionally, I use the Life Application Bible in both the New International Version, and New Living Testament version. I am looking for one in the New American Standard Version (updated version) as well. These make great study aids and help the reader gain more "verse by verse" "food for thought".
