1 | Sabbath laws....do? or don't? | Col 2:16 | SLSaltsman | 1945
Very well done! One might note that God did rest on the seventh day. This is a powerful example for practical living. It was made to be Law for Israel's personal and national life. It is not, as you so clearly state, a part of the new covenant in Christ. Is it a good idea? It has been since the beginning. Thank you for your clarity and gentleness. God bless you. SLSaltsman |

2 | How to "Call on the name of the Lord"? | Acts 2:21 | SLSaltsman | 1829
Peter answered this at the end of the sermon in verses 37-42.
3 | WHAT DOES JESUS MEAN BY THIS VERSE | John 14:6 | SLSaltsman | 1828
Jesus' purpose for humbling Himself was not to bring us happiness. He came to seek and to save the lost (Luke 19:10). He came to offer Himself as the Lamb of God which takes away the sin of the world (John 1:29). This verse (Jn 14:6)is referring to the Father's presence. God bless you as you search the Word. Sincerely, SLSaltsman |

4 | How about faithful Jews? | John 14:6 | SLSaltsman | 1826
Dear charis, What "New Covenant" would or could nullify the everlasting covenant God made with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob? Hardly is the everlasting covenant God made with Abraham nullified by the covenant in Christ (or by anything else). Galatians 3:27,28 clearly states that those who are in Christ do indeed participate in the everlasting covenant with Abraham. This is the same covenant God promised to Adam and Eve when he said "in your seed" not "seeds" referring to Jesus Christ (Genesis 3:15). God has been consistent throughout the ages and remains consistent today. The covenant that was changed was the Mosaic covanant. With Christ Jesus (from the tribe of Judah) as our High Priest, there was of necessity a change in the Law. The covenant with Abraham pre-dated the covenant established at Mt. Sinai. It remains intact. Hebrews 12:18-29. Note: The covenant with Noah also will remain till the end of time. God did not take away salvation by faith. Faith is the only way anyone has ever been or ever will be saved. "Abraham believed God and it was reckoned to him as righteousness." (Romans 4:1-15) The first gospel message proclaimed salvation by faith (Acts 2:21,37,38) God bless you with His abundant grace. Sincerely yours by His grace and mercy, SLSaltsman |

5 | Covenant to Abraham revoked? | Gen 17:7 | SLSaltsman | 1747
There are many covenants between God and men --Adam/Eve Genesis 3:15 --Noah (1-salvation) Genesis 6:18 --Noah (2-no flood) Genesis 9:8-17 --Abraham (1-land covenant)Genesis 15:18 and other texts NOTE: this covenant was conditional based upon the Israelite's faithfulness. --Abraham (2-everlasting Messianic covenant)Genesis 12:1-3;17:1-21 --Moses (Exodus 24:7,8) This Mosaic covenant with it's Levitical priesthood was never intended to be a permanent covanant but rather a "schoolmaster" to lead and prepare the world for Christ. All of these great covenants are established by God for specific reasons. At times it may be easy to mix or confuse one with another resulting in a serious puzzle. Jesus Christ established the new covenant/testament with His death. The Mosaic Covenant was fulfilled. The Abrahamic covanant is still very much in effect. Galatians 3:24-29 states that 24 Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith. 25 But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor. 26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28 here is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's descendants, heirs according to promise. |

6 | What happens to Non-Christians? | John 14:6 | SLSaltsman | 1704
One of the difficult things about Christianity in our tolerant culture today is its exclusivity. Many today ask what Pilot asked, "What is truth?" Only a person who is guilty of sin will be condemned to Hell (Ezekiel 18;19; Romans 6:23). Only through Jesus Christ can one who has sinned go to Heaven. God in His grace has provided one way to satisfy His justice. The person who has never heard of Christ will be judged by what he does know to be right and wrong (Romans 2 and 3). The problem is that everyone who reaches adulthood DOES sin. We choose to rebel and transgress or miss the mark. When Adam and Eve sinned in the garden, they were separated from God-THAT day they DIED. Sin accomplishes the same effect in the life of anyone. The soul that sins shall die (be separated from God). When a person sins, he/she needs a resurrection, a new life! When a repentant beleiver is baptized (immersed) into Christ then he is... ...baptized INTO Christ (Romans 6:1-11, et al) ...buried and resurrected with Him (Romans 6:1-11; Colossians 2:12) ...circumsized (brought into the covenant) (Col. 2:11) ...clothed with Christ - ready for the wedding feast! (Galatians 3:27) ...forgiven (Acts 2:38; 22:16) ...calls upon the name of the Lord (Acts 2:21,38) If all these things are true, then what is the sinner's circumstance OUTSIDE of Jesus Christ? "All authority has been given unto Me in heaven and on earth. Go, therefore and make disciples of all peoples..."(Matthew 28:18-20) God bless you as you cultivate an obvious concern and love for the lost. Pray that the Lord of the Harvest will send forth laborers into the harvest for indeed the harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few. |
