Thank you for your response. Your feelings are in tune with John Paul II. If I may quote him from a chapter in Life In Christ: "There is no limits to the mercy of God, but anyone who deliberately refuses to accept his mercy by repenting, rejects the forgiveness of his sins and the salvation offered by the Holy Spirit. Such hardness of heart can lead to final impenitence and eternal loss". Also, I found another passage that says that unintentional ignorance can diminish or even remove the imputability of a grave offense. But no one is deemed to be ignorant of the principles of the moral law, which are written in the conscience of every man. When I spoke of the book the Poisonwood Bible I was referring to the minister that was on a mission. He lost sight of the true path of Jesus' footprints and was not open to the cultural and tribal beliefs. This is nothing new as missionaries go forth all the time but they do what they can with respect to others beliefs which is a way of life to them. I agree that the outward signs of belief do not always reveal the inward signs of faith and grace. Without those we are lost. It is very hard for some to be humble but God made us in His own image and gave us free will. What beautiful gifts He bestowed upon us. Hugs from CA, Rose |

Have you ever read, "The Poisonwood Bible"? I believe in walking in Jesus' footprints and not trying to make our own just look like His. Follow where He leads. Live like He wanted us to live. Remember that this is 2001. If He came today would He turn away from a little unbaptised child if it dies? No, He is the savior for us all. He will judge the living and the dead by how they lived and by their inocense. Do you believe that... Love is forgiving? Hugs from California Rose |

That's wonderful to be able to experience another culture. I took 5 years of academic spanish and still cannot speak fluently. Wish I could but I am inhibited. I will pray to have the courage to open up and put my fears to rest. Thanks for sharing.

No disrespect taken. I am just searching and I appreciate hearing your views. Having an open mind can lead us to new horizons. "Seek and ye shall find", is one of my favorites. I am grateful to find this level of knowledge and I am looking forward to finding some new insight into the Bible. I am in a faith renewal class and I have so many questions that no one would ever answer or even take the time to express their views. So please except my sincere thanks. Rose |

I agree that we are inhibited as to revealing our true spiritual beings to one another. We must go as children, without fear of what others may say, without fear of being ridiculed. A little child can learn a foreign language faster and better than an adult because he has no inhibitions. The child merely wants to communicate with this other child so that they can become playmates. For adults to accept these gifts and use them without fear, they must have the unconditional belief, trust and love of a child. Thanks to those who are willing to share their views with me on this. 6 | Locate a single woman's purpose? | Bible general Archive 1 | RoseS | 23017
Mary's purpose was to give birth to Jesus. Woman's purpose is the same as man's. To walk in Jesus' footsteps. Remember that God is love and love is forgiving. |

7 | Do you recall what Jesus told His discip | Bible general Archive 1 | RoseS | 23016
The point is we all have the power to heal if we believe that the power is a gift of the Holy Spirit. The key word here is to believe in this gift that was given to us by the Holy Spirit when He came and Jesus ascended. Jesus tells His disciples that He must go so that the Holy Spirit can dwell among them. Do you know where that passage is in the Bible? I am still looking but I know it very well and I believe in this gift with all my heart.

Thanks for your response and the references. NO is not in the biblical passage. At Mark 16 verses 14-18 The Commissioning of the Eleven. Jesus tells the diciples, "Go into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to every creature. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned. These signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will drive out demons, they will speak new languages. They will pick up serpents and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not harm them. They will lay hands on the sick and they will heal them." |

In the Bible it says that the gift of healing is from the Holy Spirit. All glory and honor are always in the Lord but that was not my question. We do not have enough faith in this gift that was given to us. We do not trust the Word or we would all be able to use the gift as it is meant for us. Thank you for your response.
