1 | What does1 Cor. 5:11 mean? | 1 Cor 5:1 | Richard Spendiff | 104746
I am not 'feeling' judged. The spiritual man is judged by no-one. Conduct on this most open of places must be the kind that you would be happy with if you were face to face with me, that is the bottom line. All christians have knowledge, not just some. Indeed, our natural ability is actually a hindrance to true advancement in the Word. This is a forum, not a contest.
2 | What does1 Cor. 5:11 mean? | 1 Cor 5:1 | Richard Spendiff | 104741
It would be good for us all to maintain ourselves in a way becoming christians, for that is what we are and I am referring to you, Joel. None of us are perfect but we all press on forward. The world will not end if an answer is not judged to be perfect by another, but light will be shed one way or another!
3 | Who are the invited guests? | Rev 19:9 | Richard Spendiff | 104739
I have looked at Bullinger on this, so here goes:- the 'wife' of 19:7 would be the earthly consort of the Lord for the millenium and is physical Israel, just as it is kind of now starting to take shape in the middle east (many so called Jews are not descended from Jacob so there may be a way to go before a real Israel after the flesh occurs, unless adoption of Judaism is enough, which is possible). the bride of 21:9 is the Israel of the heavenly calling, ie christians. See how chapter 21 starts with the new heaven and New earth and the holy city. Pondering this will make sense of it all. The word used for bride in 21:9 is 'numphe' and does not occur in 19:7. 'gune' meaning woman or wife is used in both verses. |

4 | why was Jezebel hates | 2 Kin 9:7 | Richard Spendiff | 104721
A non Isrealite by lineage, married to the King, she encouraged apostasy in Israel. She siezed lands that were not here own in the vale of jezreel and is a type of that great whore of latter day idol-centric systems we see today Viz:untempered capitalism, public abominations etc. She was doubtleess practising the Babylonian mystery religions in one form or another. The lands she siezed will be the same lands that will see armegeddon where the Lord will pay back in full the greater rebellion of nations in the latter days.
5 | Were Angels created Holy? | Bible general Archive 2 | Richard Spendiff | 104677
separation to God is the essence of holiness and can therfore apply to almost anything that is in this state. The angels that fell evidently are not holy as they 'left their first estate'. Angels themselves are ministering spirits to us who believe and are thus not necessarily holy however by the nature of their work with us who are seperated unto the Lord it would seem holiness is a by-product of their role, presumably working within the holy of holies that has now been opened through the blood of christ, the torn veil. In as much as they dwell in light in the way we do, the light is thus purifying (as God holds angels to account for errors etc) although there is no sin nature attaching to them and thus they may be regarded as pure. The notions of good and evil pertain particularly to this earth and it's ages, being the result of eating the fruit of knowledge. Beings that have not fallen are not really in this sphere of having to make a choice between good and evil, I think, although certainly at one point some did fall and did make a conscious choice to sin. We, however, are born in sin and hence our consciousness is different from angelic beings although the renewal of the Holy Spirit in our lives raises our consciousness to freedom from sin.
6 | summary of proverbs chp 18 | Prov 18:23 | Richard Spendiff | 104673
the usual rights and wrongs, illustrated from all walks and experiences of life. Note the ever present contrast between extremes eg The name of the LORD is a strong tower; The righteous runs into it and is safe. Prov 18:11 A rich man's wealth is his strong city, And like a high wall in his own imagination verse 10 shows the spiritual man seeking refuge in the name of the Lord, verse 11 a man whose 'strong tower' is his wealth but note the caveat 'in his imagination'. Verse 23 continues this theme with a different emphasis, this time simply poor and rich, mercy and harshness. AS Jesus said 'how difficult it is for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven'. The extension here from solomonic wisdom to that of the kingdom of heaven is thus made here convincingly. |
