1 | "God told me to do it" | Gen 22:1 | Ricardo Della-Ricca | 107527
Hi Makarios Thanks for this response, however my friend Tim argues with the whole thing and is pushing his case. Here is a letter from him. Ricardo. I can thus deduct, that God does indeed tell people to do bad things... Hmmmm, that somehow doesn't sound right... It is therefore impossible to tell whether or not it is the devil, or God talking to us in our dreams. Because as Gen 22:1-19 tells us, "God asked Abraham to sacrifice his son to God... (ie burn and murder him)". That is why I would not be tempted to look into dreams as an indicator of or duty to God, or future. It is clear, that from this, we do not know who is putting things in our head. Could it therefore be possible, that those people we see, who hear voices in their head, telling them to do "bad things", could indeed be God speaking to them? However unlikely this may be, it is certain we must look at Gen 22:1-19 and reconsider our response. Simply not labelling those people as "wackos". I could gurantee you, that if Abraham had consulted a psychiatrist in this day and age, about how he had heard a voice claiming it was God, ordering him to kill his son, he would almost certainly be put in a straight jacket. We however know it was God, and that Abraham was not a "wacko". Puts a new edge on defining a mental illness doesn't it? No psychiatrist has the corner on truth... God does indeed tell people to do bad things... (As a test). Yet God disallowed Abraham to go through with his sacrifice... I would encourage all people who look deeply into dreams, and visions, to treat such things with caution. Always consult the scriptures before acting on anything. Ricardo, I will try and collaborate more verses to evidence my case. What do I make of Gen 22? In my view, it would seem ridiculous for God to test a mere man's faith, for he already knew the extent to which Abraham's faith reached... Possibly God is trying to say that he can tell people to do bad things. I do not know, I am only human, and cannot explain God's actions. However, from this, I do know that it is very important that we treat all dreams and visions with the highest degree of caution. For if you are ordered to sin, we must not cross out God as the voice, as Gen 22 tells us... It could just as equally be the devil polluting our minds... Then again, we could be mentally ill... I honestly do not know... This arguement is somewhat jumbled, as I've just been rifling off what ever's on my mind. But if I have not made something clear, please ask. Tim thanks regards Ricardo |

2 | "God told me to do it" | Gen 22:1 | Ricardo Della-Ricca | 107472
Why did God ask Abraham to kill his son? WHY SUCH A TEST? Does God still ask such things in todays world? It is often mentioned in the news, people say "God told me to do it" Ricardo |

8 | to kiss one another | Song of Solomon | Ricardo Della-Ricca | 107058
thank you for this reply often when my friend and i speak, there is suggestive talk about getting to know one another closer, i did bring this up with him, however it all comes back to look in the bible or that i myself am holding back full expression of feelings. I think the whole reason we were made distant was Gods answer to my prays. He will always be regarded as a friend. I guess what he feels from me is Gods love. |

9 | Am I wrong to think this? | Proverbs | Ricardo Della-Ricca | 107056
Hi, I read all the responses and replies to your letter and found them interesting. I also have experienced a simular belief in the past. I now fully enjoy going to church. My wife and I also decided to commit ourselves with passion for Christ Jesus. We hold a bible study group at our house on Tuesday nights. At this group we often have up to ten people attend. We are openly able to speak, comment, discuss, etc, all of our thoughts, ideas, insites etc, in this group. We work from study notes (which are the notes used by the Pastors at our church) and the bible. Through this process I learnt much and gained a greater understanding into the fullness of living in Christ. This type of study group may help you to express you ideas etc. Anyway in the following paragraphs I talk about 'the church'. I hope it will help you relate to what it means to live in Christ. It is all about God, and not us! What is 'the church' all about? It was important to me to find out what the full meaning of 'the church' was. I used to believe the church was the building we met in, and thought the church was something seperate to myself, however through the bible study group we found that the church is in fact the body of Christ,(Ephesians 1:22-23). From the Greek word 'ekklesia',(church) means literally the 'gathering together of those called by God to live for and serve Him', hence our saying that 'church is all about God and people', so without people the church does not exist. Our group agreed that the church is about being a part of 'the church family' so as to work together to serve God and impact the community/ nations around us. Like a body, each part has a job to do so as to fuction to its fullest. If the body is missing parts(a foot, an arm, a leg)it cannot function to its full potential. How to build a healthy church, Ephesians 4: 1-16. Our group found that the church is not about 'one' or 'I' it is all about glorifying God. The church is not mankinds idea, it is God's plan, 2 Samuel 7:13, Matthew 16:18-19, Ephesians 2: 19-22. God also loves his church, Ephesians 5: 27. Yes the church is a great place to be in the presense of God, through praise and worship, however there is more to it than to be a 'feelgood church'. It is all about God, not the self. The church needs to grow and to be 'an ownership church'so as to serve God out in the world. The church is about team work and leadership skills. Everyone is said to have a 'calling'(1 Samuel 3: 1-21)and every one has 'giftings'(1 Corinthians 12: 1-31), these are wasted if they not used. Oh, on response to one reply that I read which stated: "I have listened to not less than 3000 sermons. But, to my consternation, I discover I cannot remember a single one of them" I say "WOW" In the last ten years of my marriage, there were some 3650 days, my wife has cooked around 10950 meals. I cannot remember all of them either, however I now that I had eaten them and they provided nutrition and nourishment for my body. Going to church and hearing the sermons provides nutrition and nourishment for my spiritual needs. Did that make sense. I hope this was not to boring or long. regards Ricardo |

10 | to kiss one another | Not Specified | Ricardo Della-Ricca | 106772
hi My name is Ricardo and this is my question: ok...he is a lead up to it.... I have a friend(D), he has been a Christian for about 20 yrs. We have grown to know one another over the last 8yrs. On one day he(D) tried to plant a great kiss on me lips, i found this too much and pulled away immediately. This happened three years ago. We have remained close friends, he has since moved to another area. We keep intouch via phone and email. He(D) always whats to kiss me over the phone and email messages. I am Italian and my whole family and some friends, greet each other with a kiss on each cheek. It feels different, it is full of love, it does not feel at all lustfull, it does when it comes from him(D). now the question.... He(D) states it is in the bible. He(D) said look up kiss in the bible and it will answer you. I read the bible under "kiss"and can understand it as a holy kiss, "Greet one another with a holy kiss"in Romans16:16, 1 Corinthians16:20, 2 Corinthians13:12, 1 Thessalonians5:26, 1 Peter5:14 and other. I do not believe they had a smooch. I do not think they kissed more than a peck on each cheek. And i guess in some cases only one side kissed, as on a hand or forhead. A peck on the lips is full-on, if it is more than that, it becomes a smooch. He(D)seems gay, it seems to come across to strong. It felt invasive. Help me deal with this, i do enjoy his(D) friendship. I need proof in scripture that it is right or wrong. I have not been a Christian for long, can you go into this with more depth, this "kiss"? thanks regards Ricardo |
