1 What is so wrong with Catholics Bible general Archive 2 RevT 147997
I don't know if anything is so wrong with Catholics as much as it is in their understanding of the "presence of God," especially the difference between how protestants understand "communion' and how Catholics understand the "Eucharist." Catholics believe that the bread and wine become the actual body and blood of Christ. Christ presence is the bread and wine. For Protestants the presence of Christ happens when "two or more gather in my name." For protestants Christ presence is in "relationship between those who gather together as the community or communion of faith. For Cathoilics relationship between those receiving the bread has nothing to do with the presence of Christ. The words spoken over the bread by the "priest" determine whether Christ is present in the material substance ( bread and wine) being eaten.
