1 | Why was Jehu to be punished by God? | Not Specified | RealTruthAlways | 163564
I am having trouble understanding why God would punish king Jehu for the bloodshed of Jezreel mentioned in Hosea 1:4. It was my understanding that Joram was to be killed to fulfill the prophecy avenging the death of Naboth and his sons in 2 Kings 9:26. Was it just a soveriegn decision of God or am I missing something?

5 | Is Jesus a role model for us? | Hebrews | RealTruthAlways | 161722
Hi Ashlyn, I believe Jesus can be a real role model because not only did he have the power to overcome the very thing(s) we as humans do not, but the way he overcame speaks volumes to his personal accessibility to us and reveals his complete dependence on Father God. Christ overcame by victoriously suffering absolutely everything we struggle with as humans. "Since then the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil;" He 2:14 NASB The writer of Hebrews goes on to explain, "Therefore, He had to be made like His brethren in all things, that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For since He Himself was tempted in that which He has suffered, He is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted." He 2:17-18 NASB Remember Ashlyn, "For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need." He 4:15-16 NASB When Jesus Christ was here on this earth he was "God with skin on." He was fully man and fully God. I believe His dependance on the Father further shows his humanity and threfore can be viewed as an incredible encouragement to us on earth. Jesus said in Jn 5:19 NIV "I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can only do what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does." Jesus Christ's first miracle recorded in the Gospel of John alludes to His waiting for the Father's perfect timing when he responded to his mother by saying, "Dear woman, why do you involve me? Jesus replied. My time has not yet come." Jn 2:4 NIV Even the timing of His Father's will was not overlooked! Most importantly when it came down to "crunch time" and his disciples had deserted Him, Jesus Christ deferred to His Father's will for the Father's pleasure and purposes."Then He said to them, My soul is deeply grieved, to the point of death; remain here and keep watch with Me. And He went a little beyond them, and fell on His face and prayed saying, My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as Thou wilt." Mt 26:38-39 NASB Further evidence of Jesus submitting to His Father's will was stated in these words, "Yet it was the LORD's will to crush him and cause him to suffer and though the LORD makes his life a guilt offering, he will see his offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the LORD will prosper in his hand." Is 53:10 NIV As far as being perfect, I beleive anyone who has been born again/regenerated through faith in the finished work of Christ's sacrificial death and resurrection is positionally perfect in Christ.(see He 10:1-10:10;10:14; 12:23) But we are definately being perfected as we work out our salvation with fear and trembling of our Father in heaven.(see Col 1:28-29; Ph 3:12-14) hope this helps RTA |
