1 | Qtn clarified: Reg Eldr Mtngs All Clsd? | Acts 20:17 | RMSFLD48 | 117679 | ||
I was somewhat vague in my opening question. Let me clarify. I understand that the elders sometimes have "congregational meetings" where they specifically invite the congregation in order to present an issue and discuss it, e.g. hiring new pastor or purchasing new building. I also understand that elders regularly must address sensitive, private problems, e.g. marriage problems of a member, or staff salaries. My concern is that my elder board has regular monthly meetings in which no part of the meeting is open for church members to observe. I asked if they would open a portion of the regular elder meetings, and the answer they gave was, "No." This policy seems unwise to me. It gives the impression of "secretiveness". I am asking, "Should I challenge them on this issue and how from a Biblical perspective?" |
