1 | death ?????????????????? | Ecclesiastes | REVbuff | 20869
See Eccles. 3:20, 12:7, 'Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was, and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.' So, the body is buried and decays away in the grave, but the breath of its life goes back to God who gave it. In the resurrection of the dead in Christ, the spirit is returned to the resurrected body, is "changed" to a new form, and, we may suppose joined together, the new body with its spirit lives for ever more! |

2 | Was He being punished... | NT general Archive 1 | REVbuff | 20865
Heb. 2:9, "because he suffered death," Re: 'suffered' - Do you consider then that his 'one sacrifice' was any sort of a "punishment" for any sin of his own? (He was sinless!) Or was it a "punishment" for the sins of many people", Heb. 9:28? ...the substitution idea versus the idea of grace has me confused, for the Scriptures seem to say that the Lord had to allow himself to die in order to annul the power of sin which is inherent in the flesh of mankind...
3 | Well said. Thank you. | Heb 11:3 | REVbuff | 20499
In Heb. 11:3, the word "worlds" is in the Greek, AION, properly translated it is "ages". These "ages" were prepared by the Word of God. When you read through the O.T., you can readily see that the years, months, seasons and days, have been set in order by the Word of God. These "ages" comprise the calendar of the times which are to be devoted to the worship of God. Time, like the Holy Spirit, is not a visible thing, but both invisibly "work" in order to bring to pass the things about which the Word of God has spoken and which are written in both 'testaments' of the Holy Scriptures. |

4 | How do you get the Holy ghost? | NT general Archive 1 | REVbuff | 20498
I forgot to add: In order to be guided in your Christian walk, you must be a person who believes in prayer. And who uses prayer to receive the Lord's "comfort" or "spirit of truth" for the matter which you are praying about. Because "the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous person avails much"!!! ...So, do it!!! and may God bless you, for He loves to do good things for all His children!!!
5 | How do you get the Holy ghost? | NT general Archive 1 | REVbuff | 20497
When you are baptized (by full immersion) into the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, you are given the earnest [Greek: arrabona; a "down payment"] of the Holy Spirit. This "earnest" is the "Comforter" (see John 14:16, 14:26, 15:26, and 16:7) -- the Comforter is the "spirit of truth" (see John 14:17, 15:26, 16:13, and I John 4:6) -- which the Lord promised to send, after his ascension into the heavens, to all who believe in him, in order to guide them in their Christian walk. Study these verses in their context about the "earnest": 2 Cor. 1:22 - 2 Cor. 5:5 - Eph. 1:14. When the Lord comes again - at his 2nd coming - all those who have believed in his name will receive the "full payment" of the Holy Spirit, and will be transformed into the glory which Jesus has now and which he will share with the believer in him! |
