2 | Did God really want animal sacrifices? | Gen 4:4 | PseudAnon | 72617 | ||
Leviticus 1:9 He is to wash the inner parts and the legs with water, and the priest is to burn all of it on the altar. It is a burnt offering, an offering made by fire, an aroma pleasing to the LORD. Genesis 4:3-7 In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the LORD . But Abel brought fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. The LORD looked with favor on Abel and his offering, but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast. Then the LORD said to Cain, "Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it." My answer to your question, is yes, God did want animal sacrifices. Why? because it was a pleasing aroma for Him. The second reason I think God asked for animal sacrifices is a teaching of obedience for them. Can you imagine how unpleasant it would be for them to strip an animal down and burn it? Can you imagine the conversations that would take place? It's all to do with obedience and faith, and learning. I realise your question is a big one, and I've only given my opinion on a small part of it, sorry :) |
