Notes to all of the postings on this question: 1. Nobody should accept without qualification or reservation anything that is read in Charisma or anywhere else. The Word and the Spirit will guide us to all truth. 2. What if women were called by God? How do we know it was God? Just like we know with men, by their fruits. Why should it be any different the discernment of callings or ministries depending on the sex? We are not judging the person, but that the fruit of the calling is God's. 3. Women preaching? women evangelizing? women teaching? JESUS CALLED THE FIRST WOMAN TO EVANGELIZE HIMSELF. IT WAS MARY MAGDALENE, NOT MARRIED, NOT UNDER ANY "AUTHORITY" EXCEPT JESUS', SHE WAS ASKED TO GO TELL ALL THE MEN THE GOOD NEWS! 4. Women having churches? What about the women in Acts, the disciples of Jesus, after the 12 some were women you know. Some had churches in their houses, e.g. Priscilla and Aquila, and others. 5. Paul not permitting women to speak in church? If ya'll are so knowledgeable of the Bible, then you know that you don't interpret by one verse, and you would also know that you have to take into consideration the times and the people the letters were written. In these times, women were considered PROPERTY of men, initially their fathers, then when married, their husband's. Also in these times, women sat on one side of the temple and men on the other, and women who were not educated in those times, were continuously asking questions to their husbands across the hall. That is why they are told to keep silence in church and get the info at home from their husbands, who were the educated ones at the time. Also when they are commanded to stay in submission to their husbands, one of the reasons was that some women still considered themselves property of their fathers even after they were married and thus the admonition to stay with the husband and be subject to him. Not to say that they should be rebellious, but submission in other verses is equal, submit yourselves one to another.

I also had a lot of questions regarding all of these "women in church/ministry" questions. The best I can do is recommend a wonderful new book that has helped me a lot and answers many of the above questions. "10 Lies the Church Tells Women: How the Bible has been misused to keep women in spiritual bondage", by J. Lee Grady, ordained minister, and editor of Charisma magazine. You can access a summary at: http://cbw.strang.com/catalog/7379.htm. Keep an open mind and spirit and ask the Holy Spirit to teach and show you all truth. I hope and pray ya'll are blessed as I was.
