1 | Echoes from Genesis | Gen 8:22 | Portland | 84226
The natural phenomenon of the bow reminds us of the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth. (Gen. 9:16). When I live through each season of seed-time and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and every day as day turns into night and night into day, I'm reminded of God's promise in Genesis 8:22 that these natural phenomena shall not cease as long as the earth remains. When I step out to my back yard and look at the stars on a cloudless night or take a short drive to admire the majestic mountains and the clear, cool mountain streams near my home, I exult with the Psalmist: "The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament showeth his handiwork." (Psalm 19:1) And, in humble adoration, I pray: "When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained, What is man that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visitest him?" (Psalm 8:3,4). []Portland[]
