1 | Disciple Jesus Loved | John 19:26 | Pivot71 | 121330
Peter is not the disciple reffered to as "whom Jesus Loved" Jh 20:2, Jh 21:7, Jh 21:20 Jh 13: 23-25 confirms this, neither is it James. The disciple is indeed John. Chapter 21 of the book of John explains it all. The chapter talks about when Peter and some other disciples including the sons of Zebedee went fishing, when Jesus appeared to them, the disciple whom Jesus loved was the first to identify Him. Later Jeses told Peter about how his old age would be. The phrase "whom Jesus Loved" came up again in v20 and later on in v24 John yhe writter of the book of John confirms that he is the one being referred to. If you take time to study John 21, you will get this clearer. |

3 | Leavened Bread vs. Unleavened Bread | Amos 1:1 | Pivot71 | 8206
The type of bread we use for communion matters. Jesus said in 1Cor 11:24 that we should do this in remembrance of him. It was at the feast of passover, the bread that was used is the unleavened type (Mark 14:12). Many times God warned his people Israel about the using or possesion of leaven (Ex 12:15,19,Lev 2:11,Lev 6:11) Leaven is seen as a material that corrupts the dough, making the dough to rise beyond what would have been its limit. The communion is a sacred ordinance which must not be corrupted by any means just as we too must not allow ourselves to be corrupted by the world. The body of our Lord which this bread signifies is not corrupt! If we take the bread in an unworthy manner, we are doom for a repercussion. 1Cor 11:27-30. |
