1 | The peace of Jerusalem? | Ps 122:6 | Pastor Glenn | 157326
Hello Mommapbs, I feel that based on history, as well as, Rev 12, Jews are a high priority target of Satan. Just as we pray specific prayers for those that have rule over us, or for the sick, we should also pray specific prayers for the people (woman of Rev 12) that brought forth our Savior. Isn't salvation of the Jews (John 4:22) and the gospel to the Jew first (Acts 1:8; Rom 1:16)? Praying general prayers for world peace is good, but more specific prayers can bring more specific results. James 5:16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Brother Glenn |

2 | John 8:24- What does this mean to you? | 1 John 4:2 | Pastor Glenn | 157165
Hello Deep input, To cut through your complaints about modern Christianity, versus the Watchtower bible and tract society, please understand that effectively it is as if you are comparing filthy, muddy legal currency to crisp clean counterfeit currency. You are still choosing the counterfeit if you do not have Jesus as God. Even then the Watchtower is not at all clean as you believe. Do you know anything about their founder? His grave site is marked with a pyramid that shows his belief in the occult. You really need to look it up as others have. You wrote: “The Jehovah Witnesses are different from the world and modern day Christianity. The question then becomes, Is the world that modern day christianity is attached to the one that God loves or hates?” To say that there is a world that God hates is a misconception. The world hates God in there fleshly ways. Are you aware that the Jehovah’s witnesses appealed to the pride of the white man just as the KKK and Mormons did? A proud look is at the top of the list of things that God hates. The 144,000 were said by them to be white men only. Not even white women were to be included. On the show, the former Jehovah’s Witnesses pointed out scripture that proves that Jesus Christ is in fact Jehovah God: Zec 11:12 And I said unto them, If ye think good, give me my price; and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver. They indicated that “my price” is Jehovah talking here. Also look at the next chapter: Zec 12:10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn. Notice how it says “…they shall look upon me whom they have pierced…”. They said that this is examples of many scriptures that every Jehovah’s witness should know. 2Corinthians 11:3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 3 | John 8:24- What does this mean to you? | 1 John 4:2 | Pastor Glenn | 157160
Hello Deep input, I hope that you at least watched the show. Also keep in mind that confusion about which religion is really true is no more excusable than confusion concerning counterfeit money. Just as we are expected to know the key features of our money, we are also warned about false Christs. We are not warned of false Jehovah, mind you, but again, false Christs. I do agree with you concerning unholiness in the church. Having the right religion is not the major factor. However, have the right Christ is the one most crucial factor for salvation. Joh 8:24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins. What does this verse mean to you Deep input? Brother Glenn |

4 | Is it mt 26:60-61 happening today? | 1 John 4:2 | Pastor Glenn | 157148
Hello Deep input, There is a very good video that you can watch for free online: Go to http://www.johnankerberg.org/ and click on the link to watch this week's show. "Jesus, Salvation and the Bible: What do Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses Believe?" There are probably former followers on the show to testify some of the same things that we have told you here. 5 | Is it mt 26:60-61 happening today? | 1 John 4:2 | Pastor Glenn | 157143
Hello deep input, You asked Is Mat 26:60-61 happening today? Yes it is happenning by Anti-Christ groups like the Jehovahs witnesses. I will try to explain. You wrote: “Hello Brother Glenn, I m not currently a member of the Jehovah Witnesses. I have study with them. I have studied with the Mormons. I was baptised as a baptist. I spent many years in a non-denominational church. There are many people who are like the false witnesses spoken of in mt 26:60-61. They say thing about the Jehovah Witnesses that they really dont know any thing about. And, I will say that in all my searching, they are walking closer to the bible than any other group.” Deep impact, please pay close attention to 1 John 4. It tells us who are closer to the bible ways. Ask yourself why it speaks of those that confess that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. Ask yourself why the Son of Man could forgive sins. Ask why He was Lord of the Sabbath. Why would He be allowed to wear the title of “King of Kings and Lord of Lords“. Mat 26:60 But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, yet found they none. At the last came two false witnesses, Mat 26:61 And said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days. 1. They deny the deity of Christ. The false witnesses of Mat 26:60 are of anti-Christ spirit. The Jehovah’s witnesses are anti-Christ also for the same reason that is spoken of in 1John 4, as well as, 1Cor 12:3. 1Corinthians 12:3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. 2. They also deny the personhood of the Holy Ghost. Why would blasphemy against the Holy Ghost be unpardonable if He is not a person. 3. They deny everlasting punishment of the wicked. “You talked of Jacob seeing God. I read this too. What does John 1:18 mean? Joh 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. “…and in acts 7:30 Stephen says that an Angel of the Lord appeared to Moses. Is God also an Angel?” Hebrews 1:5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son? Hebrews 1:13 But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool? “Haggar talked with the Angel of the Lord. This Angel had the authority to multiply her descendants exceedingly. (gen 16:7-13) God is spirit John 4:24. As far having eternal security, phil 2:12 tells me to work out my salvation with fear and trembling. If all of our sins past, present and future have already been forgiven, why would we need to confess them has 1 John 1:9 states.” Gen 16:10 And the angel of the LORD said unto her, I will multiply thy seed exceedingly, that it shall not be numbered for multitude. “I believe that the council of Nicea is a major heresy (leaven) that has corrupted the church. Also please see the notes on this web site concerning 1 John 5:7. That teaching comes from the council of nicea and has levened the whole loaf to the point of this verse being added to the Bible and worse people saying it is ok because it is the truth. Is it?” Well, aren’t we commanded to baptize in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost? Do you consider that command a heresy too? Brother Glenn |

6 | Is Jesus Christ God? Is He your Lord? | 1 John 4:2 | Pastor Glenn | 157134
Hello deep input, You wrote: “Do I believe Jesus is God. I believe Jesus is God's Son, I believe Jesus is my King, Savior, and friend.” It appears that you have quit a dilemma. You accept Jesus as your King and Lord, but not as your God. This is the same dilemma that all followers of the Watchtower and Tract Society face when they read the scriptures by the Watchtower’s teachings. On one hand, you are taught that the name Jehovah is the most important name in the holy scriptures. On the other hand, you know that the scriptures say that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but by Him. Also, you know that there is no other name given among men, whereby we must be saved. “I will serve him with the best of my abilities. I am sad that I have not done this better, but that is what I desire to do. All I know to do is trust the Bible and in John 14:28 Jesus says that the father is greater then himself. From my own understanding which I do not trust, but all I have right now, I don't believe God would call Himself the Son of Man. “ From reading this along with your other posts that question God’s favoritism of some biblical patriots over others, I see that you lack the security of your salvation that only comes from faith in knowing Jesus as God. Hebrews chapter 11 shows that it was faith that made the difference. But faith in what? Jacob wrestled with someone that he thought was a man, but he later said that he had seen God face to face and lived: Gen 32:30 And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved. Abram also believed the Gospel of Jesus Christ: Galatians 3:8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. Jesus himself could have said that we should search the scriptures because they testify of Jehovah. But no. Instead, He said that they testify of Him (Jesus): John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. “I believe Jesus was sent by his father to this world to save it. Jesus is now, and rightfully so, sitting at the Father's right hand. He is the way, the truth, and the life. He is my Lord!!“ God has said that He will not share His glory with another, but He shared it with His Son at the transfiguration of Christ. John 17:1 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: Isaiah 42:8 I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images. Isaiah 48:11 For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory unto another. Was anyone in the bible ever rebuked for worshipping Christ? Deep input, it is OK to worship your Savior Jesus Christ. 1John 2:23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. “Now, a question for you. Do you consider yourself a new testament levite? “ No sir. 1Jo 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 1Jo 4:2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 1Jo 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. 1Jo 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. 1Jo 4:5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. 1Jo 4:6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. Brother Glenn |

7 | Is Jesus Christ God? Is He your Lord? | 1 John 4:2 | Pastor Glenn | 157103
Hello deep input, You wrote: “Verses 8-11, however, say not to call anybody rabbi(pastor), father, master. Is it ok to ignore this because we feel in our hearts that it is ok to call people pastor or father. “ You equate rabbi and pastor. But the bible or dictionary does not. Why did you throw that (pastor) into the scripture? Mat 23 8 "But do not be called Rabbi; for One is your Teacher, and you are all brothers. 9 "Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven. 10 "Do not be called leaders; for One is your Leader, that is, Christ. 11 "But the greatest among you shall be your servant. 12 "Whoever exalts himself shall be humbled; and whoever humbles himself shall be exalted. rabbi n 1: spiritual leader of a Jewish congregation; qualified to expound and apply Jewish law 2: a Hebrew title of respect for a Jewish scholar or teacher Pastor 1: A Christian minister or priest having spiritual charge over a congregation or other group. 2: A layperson having spiritual charge over a person or group. 3: A shepherd. You do not need to call me “pastor”, “brother” will do just fine. I have a question for you too. Is Jesus Christ God? Is He your Lord? Brother Glenn |

8 | Pray Please for Her Soul - Diana | 1 John 4:2 | Pastor Glenn | 156980
Hello happyandfree, If you haven't already, You should ask your friend why the Jahovah's Witnesses do not focus on this scripture at 1 John 4:2. The name Jehovah is what they like to use to differentiate themselves from other Christians. And because of that, they are not really Christians. Please see my question at ID# 92778. Aren't "Jahovah's" Witnesses anti-Christ or else they would be called "Jesus Christ" Witnesses? Also, since they say that a God of "Love" will not bring everlasting punishment that makes them false prophets: Jer 14 15Therefore thus says the LORD concerning the prophets who prophesy in My name, whom I did not send, and who say, "Sword and famine shall not be in this land'--"By sword and famine those prophets shall be consumed! The focus of the Watchtower and Tract Society on the name "Jehovah" is totally misplaced emphasis. The scriptures already have the emphasis on the name of the Son! Acts 4:12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." The great conspiracy of Satan is really the "spirit of anti-Christ", not "anti-Jehovah". Scripture emphasizes a conspiracy against the Son (Anti-Christ)? 1 John 4 2By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, 3and every spirit that does not confess that[1] Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world. How does the NWT render the above scripture? Also ask her if she agrees that the doctrine of the trinity "does not" teach that God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are "one person"? However, they are "one God", but also three eternally distinct persons. The bible is clear that there is no other name given among men by which we must be saved. John 3 18"He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. Ask her if she believes that you can be saved by the name Jehovah or by the name of Jesus Christ? Your brother in Christ, Pastor Glenn |

9 | filled Holy Spirit, or to walk in spirit | Rom 8:9 | Pastor Glenn | 153972
Hello Doc, I think we have a big misunderstanding concerning the "spirit nature". At this time, I wish to comment only on this issue. You wrote: "Regarding your first point: what I am denying is that salvation creates a second man in the believer. Salvation does not create a kind of schizophrenia. Instead, a man is made whole." To speak of a "second man" or "spirit person" is not the same thing as when we say a "spirit nature". A spirit nature is not a “person”, any more than the fleshly (carnal, or beastly) nature is a person. The “soul” is the person. Just as a believer’s soul sometimes chooses the carnal desires or nature (Samson’s life for example), the believer also can choose the spirit desires or nature daily. An unsaved person can choose whether to feed the natural desires of the flesh or not. So, I am trying to explain that while there is no real schizophrenia within a believer, there is a battle. However, I think that we both agree that the Holy Spirit dwelling within the believer creates somewhat of schizophrenia type battle against our "fleshly desires". In short, even though we may never agree on the existence of a “spirit nature”, I am sure we agree on the battle of the flesh vs. the Holy Ghost. I believe that this spirit nature is totally holy since it is born from the Holy Ghost. 1 John 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. Romans 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. “Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” (John 3:5-6) 1 Corinthians 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. “For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.” (1 Corinthians 15:53-54) Any comments? Hello Doc, After looking into the link that you provided in your profile, I wanted to point out that it seems to not show much support for your positions for "born again" being a metaphor or denial of the spirit nature: http://members.aol.com/rbiblech/BasicChristianDoctrine/TOC.htm Your brother in Christ, Pastor Glenn |

Hello Doc, You asked: "Pastor, are you reading my posts fully?" Yes, I am reading your posts fully. However, first of all, since I have never heard a Christian express none belief in the "spirit nature" of a believer as you have, I am studying the subject more deeply. Secondly, I have also never heard a Christian refer to "born again" as a metaphor. Thirdly, you refer to your view as orthodox, when as of yet, I am unable to find much in the way of clear positions on these matters in Creeds and Confessions. I do not doubt your Christianity, I just have never heard anyone on this forum or elsewhere, not even radio or TV ministries, express your positions. Maybe there are many that believe as you do, but I wish that they would speak out also. Here is some of what I found so far: http://www.carm.org/creeds.htm Belgic Confession (1561) This Reformed confession was prepared in 1561 by Guy de Bres (c.1523-1567), who was later martyred, and others, and then slightly revised by Francis Junius (1545-1602) of Bourges. First written in French, it was soon translated into Dutch and Latin. The Synod of Dort (1618-1619) made a revision but did not change the doctrine. It covers the spectrum of theological topics. Article 35: The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper We believe and confess that our Savior Jesus Christ has ordained and instituted the sacrament of the Holy Supper to nourish and sustain those who are already born again and ingrafted into his family: his church. Now those who are born again have two lives in them. The one is physical and temporal-- they have it from the moment of their first birth, and it is common to all. The other is spiritual and heavenly, and is given them in their second birth; it comes through the Word of the gospel in the communion of the body of Christ; and this life is common to God's elect only. http://www.fbctaylors.org/resources/wft.php?wft(equal symbol)146 Dichotomists dismiss the verses trichotomists hold as verification of the spirit/soul distinction. Believing it unnecessary, they find other explanations of verses like 1 Thessalonians 5:23, “…spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless…” They do not see trichotomy in Hebrews 4:12-13, “…piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit…” suggesting it would have to say, “soul from spirit” if it really taught trichotomy. Dichotomy vs. trichotomy is not a distinction to cause separation among brethren, but the man who rejects trichotomy loses one of the most helpful explanations of Biblical psychology. Why explain away these two verses in answering, “Is man a dichotomy or a trichotomy?” Pastor Vaughn, February 1, 2004 I plan to respond in detail in a few days. Your brother in Christ, Pastor Glenn |

12 | filled Holy Spirit, or to walk in spirit | Rom 8:9 | Pastor Glenn | 153770
Hello Doc, Before I respond to your post I wanted to add more scriptures: 1 John 3:9 Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God. 1 John 5:18 We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself,[e] and the wicked one does not touch him. "For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable (1 Pet 1:23)." Gal 4:27 For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband. 28 Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise. 29 But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now. Hello Doc, Thanks for your response. I really appreciate the opportunity to discuss this subject peacfully and with respect. The paper that you refered to has one drawback that disapoints me; it is limited to Paul. I really need more detailed analysis concerning several other biblical passages like John 3, Eccl 12:7 and Heb 4:12. Yes, I am speaking of believers when using the term born again. Just simply stating that "born again" is a mataphor is not enough. Shouldn't we always look for the direct meaning first? metaphor n : a figure of speech in which an expression is used to refer to something that it does not literally denote in order to suggest a similarity When Christ said "that born of the flesh is flesh and that born of the Spirit is spirit", doesn't He remove the possibility of metaphor? It is hard to find much commentary on scriptures that deal with the difference between soul and spirit like Heb 4:12: Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Thanks for the link Doc. You wrote: "The orthodox view acknowledges the existance and continued influence of the flesh in the life of the believer. However it denies that man consists of two natures." How then, does the orthodox view explain these scriptures without denying these scriptures as well? Gal 5 16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. John 3 5 Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. "Born again" here clearly implies something new is born. Please explain how the phrase "choosing to avail ourselves of the means of grace", covers the Lord's teaching of being born again. I am somewhat surprised and puzzled that you did not post a link supporting your view. Notice the phrase "...a new spirit created in them ..." below. I am copying the page that you referenced here: Chapter 13: Of Sanctification 1._____ They who are united to Christ, effectually called, and regenerated, having a new heart and a new spirit created in them through the virtue of Christ's death and resurrection, are also farther sanctified, really and personally, through the same virtue, by His Word and Spirit dwelling in them; the dominion of the whole body of sin is destroyed, and the several lusts thereof are more and more weakened and mortified, and they more and more quickened and strengthened in all saving graces, to the practice of all true holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord. ( Acts 20:32; Romans 6:5, 6; John 17:17; Ephesians 3:16-19; 1 Thessalonians 5:21-23; Romans 6:14; Galatians 5:24; Colossians 1:11; 2 Corinthians 7:1; Hebrews 12:14 ) 2._____This sanctification is throughout the whole man, yet imperfect in this life; there abideth still some remnants of corruption in every part, whence ariseth a continual and irreconcilable war; the flesh lusting against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh. ( 1 Thessalonians 5:23; Romans 7:18, 23; Galatians 5:17; 1 Peter 2:11 ) 3._____ In which war, although the remaining corruption for a time may much prevail, yet through the continual supply of strength from the sanctifying Spirit of Christ, the regenerate part doth overcome; and so the saints grow in grace, perfecting holiness in the fear of God, pressing after an heavenly life, in evangelical obedience to all the commands which Christ as Head and King, in His Word hath prescribed them. I like Ray's comments in this old thread. I have a new question: Is it more important to be filled with the Holy Spirit, or to walk in our spirit nature, or both? Romans 8 5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. 9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. Your brother in Christ, Pastor Glenn |

19 | Does a person who never hears about Jesu | Rom 2:14 | Pastor Glenn | 151945
Hello otis, My comments are along the lines of Seedling's scripture (Titus 2:1). What about those that lived before Christ or even before the law of Moses? Weren't they in the same situation? Would your question apply to them? Did they "hear the gospel or even the name of Jesus?" Abraham is one who died before Christ, of course he has salvation. The greatness of God's plan of salvation through Jesus Christ is that it covered all people of all time: Gal 3:8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. Gal 3:16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. Also see Hebrews chapter 11. Hope this helps, Pastor Glenn |

Hello revgeary60, The chief preists bought the feild using Judas' money. He had already hung himself, but afterwards, his body fell from the tree and his belly burst open. The field was called the field of blood because it was purchased with the blood money to betray Christ. Your brother in Christ, Pastor Glenn Matthew 27 3 Then Judas, His betrayer, seeing that He had been condemned, was remorseful and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, 4 saying, "I have sinned by betraying innocent blood." And they said, "What is that to us? You see to it!" 5 Then he threw down the pieces of silver in the temple and departed, and went and hanged himself. 6 But the chief priests took the silver pieces and said, "It is not lawful to put them into the treasury, because they are the price of blood." 7 And they consulted together and bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in. 8 Therefore that field has been called the Field of Blood to this day. 9 Then was fulfilled what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, saying, "And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the value of Him who was priced, whom they of the children of Israel priced, 10and gave them for the potter's field, as the LORD directed me." |
