1 | Is there a difference in meaning? | 1 Chr 4:10 | Oomie | 6464
I'm new to this forum, just registered today. I submitted a question before searching to see if it was already asked-please forgive. I don't know why the NKJV is so different from the others-just discovered that yesterday. I believe the difference is very important. The NKJV points to the humility of Jabez in that he was as much or more concerned that his experience of pain would cause him to inflict pain on others without God's intervention. I've heard it said that people who abuse others have been abused themselves. Please read Matthew Henry's Unabridged Commentary 1Chr 4:1-10; III; 3; (3) (....God's hand with us, to lead us, protect us, strengthen us, and to work all our works in us and for us is indeed....all-sufficient). This was published in 1712 while the NKJV was published in 1979, I find this of interest and confirms for me the depth of insight in Henry's writings.

3 | Why are Christians called 'saints'? | Rom 1:7 | Oomie | 6461
I remember having that title being clarified for me by a speaker on one of the radio ministries I listen to. He said that the word saint has it's root in the word sanctification. I understand that to be the process every believer enters to be "set apart; consecrated; made holy for God. Smith's Bible Dictionary states that the first disciples were known as saints (Gr.Nagios, a holy one). I regularly greet the members of my local church body with the greeting "Praise the Lord Saints". I believe it encourages us to remember our new identity in Christ and keeps us on our P's and Q's in terms of our response to others.
