1 | Did Abraham see God? | Gen 18:2 | Nosnarc | 88856
1 Tim 6:16 would indicte that the answer is no; but only insofar as in relation to God the Father. Exodus 33 vv 14 - 23 would also indicate, by inference, that as Moses did not see God's face, neither did Abraham; but . . . Did he recognise within the form of one of these visitors one who was the Son of God? It depends on whether 'The Lord'(v.1) who appeared to him was one of the three travellers in the following verse. Verse 22 of the same chapter would indicate that 2 of the three men of verse 2 were seperate from 'The Lord' in verse 1. "Then the men turned away from there and went toward Sodom, while Abraham was still standing before the LORD." (Gen 18:22). Chapter 19 v 1 talks about 2 angels arriving at Sodom. So the answer is that Abraham did see God, probably in the form of The Son. |

2 | Did Abraham see Melchizedek? | Gen 18:2 | Nosnarc | 88854
The context of the verses in this chapter would seem to indicate that there was a meeting between the Kings of Salem (Melchizedek), Sodom (Bera) and Abram. Verse 20 says, " . . . and he gave him a tithe of all." God Bless :o) |

3 | One example of loosing salvation NT | Luke 8:13 | Nosnarc | 88853
You may have had this one already, but how about John 10:28 and 29, "And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand." (NKJ) There is no link between falling away and losing one's salvation. God Bless |

4 | Why do we not keep the 7th day Sabbath | Col 2:16 | Nosnarc | 88851
I respectively suggest that the Sabbath is already on the 7th day (Saturday) anyway. The first day of the week (Sunday) and the Sabbath are not one and the same.
5 | You need baptism of the Holy Ghost! | Acts 19:2 | Nosnarc | 88806
In my understanding of Scripture, this (tongues) all hangs on the (mis)interpretation of Acts Ch 2 vv 1-13 (esp 1-4). I now attend an Elim Pentecostal church - this is the one my wife was attending when we got married. Whilst I find the outpouring of praise, worship and enthusiasm for outreach as well as general enthusiasm normally uplifting (this is one of the reasons she wanted to stay in this church), I do find that I cannot come to terms with their - and increasingly more peoples - interpretation of this scripture. It seems plain to me that the people around the Apostles at the time all heard their own languages (vv 4, 6 and 8), and not an incomprehensible babbling. Also the gift of speaking in other tongues/languages is given for the benefit of the unsaved and not the church (I Cor 14: 21 and 22). Prophesying is for the edification of the church.(Also see further down*) To me this seems to have been altered in the 'modern' church. If we look at Paul's listing of the gifts given by God (I Cor 12:28), tongues/languages is far down. Yet this gifting is being given more and more prominence (sp?) in this day and age. At times I think that 'the church' wants the miraculous but is not too interested in the seemingly 'mundane' aspects of church and serving The Lord. (*)Prophets and teachers are way up there as far as Paul is concerned. I would suggest therefore that this is the same with God, if we take the Bible as the inspired Word of God. Sorry, didnae mean to go off on one there. It is something I feel quite strongly about. I could go on, but I'd better shut up . . . God Bless David Cranson |

6 | Angels Eating | Gen 19:3 | Nosnarc | 88794
Could I suggest that the angels would eat for the same reason that Adam and Eve ate? They did not eat to live in the Garden of Eden, but they were given food nonetheless. Just the same, I believe, that in eternity eating will be something which is done - imagine the tastes and textures without the taint of sin(!) - not out of having to, but rather to further savour God's pefection, and also to enable us to praise and worship Him in all the beauty of creation.
7 | Righteousness by faith NOT WORKS!!! | Rom 4:6 | Nosnarc | 88793
Yes indeed(!) :o) Yet this does not preclude the continued living out of a life dedicated to The Lord Jesus. James chapter 2 is very interesting in this matter, especially vv 17 - 26. Faith and works, I believe, should go hand in hand. Not that works alone can save us or give us righteousness, but that by these works our faith is shown to others, and indeed is helped to grow in our own being. Also Philipians 2 vv 12 and 13 - "work out your salvation" - not that this salvation is gained from our good works (see Eph 2: 8 and 9), but that we grow and work on in the salvation which we have, letting others see it, and, again, letting that salvation grow in us through the works and actions we do.
8 | What does it mean "and sin not?" | Eph 4:26 | Nosnarc | 88792
Hi, Well . . . God is frequently angry at many things and people. This would include us, I believe, when we sin - especially wilfully. Yet He has never sinned in that anger, He has never lashed out in a haphazzard manner. He has never 'lost the rag' as I would say, 'Thrown the baby out with the bath water', basically overreacted. This is one area of sinning when angry. |
