1 | Is God responsible for evil? | Bible general Archive 1 | Micah Burke | 17117
Responsible for it? No, I may have a child and that child may go astray but I cannot be blamed for the child's evil. God did indeed make ALL THINGS, evil however is not a created thing, it is an attitude towards God's law and His nature in general. God made the possibility for evil, gave Adam, Eve and the angels free-will which they abused. God is therefore not responsible for their sins, though he made it possible for them to sin. This is a tough issue, but we must stand on the principle that "Only God is good", as Christ said. God is not responsibile for the evil deeds of men, even though God made men and gave them the ability to sin. They have abused it and becomes slaves to sin, loving sin more than God's righteousness. 3 | How can a evil spirit come from the Lord | 1 Sam 19:9 | Micah Burke | 17115
God could also have withdrawn His hand of protection from Saul, allowing Satan to send a minon to Saul. Like when Satan asked God permission to sift Job. God USES Satan (whether the Devil knows it or not is another matter.) Remember God created Satan and the demons. While they fell, this does not mean that they are outside of God's perview or ability to use. Micah |

4 | Should this verse apply today? | Matt 15:4 | Micah Burke | 17114
(I've written this message 3 times, only to have an error, when I go back it's GONE!) Christians are not under the Law (in Scripture) as a means to righteousness or salvation. They are not condemned by the law unto hell. However, this does not mean that Christians needn't obey God or civil laws. Civil law was established by the government, and it was established by God to provide justice. Civil law applies to Christians and therefore any penalty for crimes committed against it must be carried out. Micah |

6 | Should this verse apply today? | Matt 15:4 | Micah Burke | 17085
Societal aspects are not what I am talking about, by not being "under the law" it is refering to one not being under the law of God unto righteousness and salvation. Salvation comes not by keeping the law but by faith in Christ. This being said, the fruit of a spiritual life is shown by the believer in that he/she obeys God and doesn't break the law either Spiritual or Civil. The capability to do this is again, not inherient in every person but only in those with the Spirit in them. Micah |

7 | Should this verse apply today? | Matt 15:4 | Micah Burke | 15847
The concept of not being "under the law" relates not to the promises therein but the condemnation inherent in breaking it. Scripture states that even a minor violation of the Law results in condemnation unless continual sacrifices are made. This was the required regulation of the Law, complete obedience that would result in salvation. This of course meant that men could 'earn' a salvation by works. Since no man could keep the Law continually (even the priests broke it to fulfill their duties) the covenant was continually broken. This was a sign of the comming Messiah who would once and for all be a sacrifice for the sins of men. Therefore while Christians are not condemned by the 10 commandments (Rom. 8:1) the Law's requirements must still be fulfilled, and they are through one's faith in the just and the justifier, Christ. So when one looks at the law that promises long life for obedience and respect to one's parents, they must understand that the keeping of this law is only possible through the faith provided through Christ. The Law binds us to death, the Spirit gives life that we are able to walk in God's will. Micah Burke |
