1 | Still waiting.... | 1 Cor 8:5 | Mary01 | 130983
Tim's stand for trying to be as "literal" is admirable. You ask me is are your thoughts helpfull? Yes. I still am trying to fit 2 Cor. 4:4's use of god and what Tim is saying but am having trouble. I want to believe what the scriptures say and that means all of them. I work hard at what you stated about making things fit context too, as I feel that is very important. Thanks for the input. 2 | Father greater than Jesus | John 14:28 | Mary01 | 130906
Tim, I have no idea why, but I do wonder why the 1971 edition of the Revised Standard Version changed it's rendering to his own Son? Do they place the word "Son" in brackets showing that it's there just for clearity? or as a part of their actual translation? Mary |

3 | Father greater than Jesus | John 14:28 | Mary01 | 130800
Hi, Now, that's a good one, it's saying God's isn't it? Honestly, I don't remember ever reading that verse and thinking about it that way. Thank you CDBJ. I am going to show it to my friends and research it out. Thank you again! Mary |

Hello Thisbabbler, I'm printing out and studying carefully what you and Tim are posting. This is an interesting subject. I am studiing with the JW's and ask them questions and we research it out. Just so you know you are being watched! Mary |

5 | Still waiting.... | 1 Cor 8:5 | Mary01 | 130794
Pcdarcan, I am watching this thread very closely and am still waiting for Br Tim's reply to Tara on whether or not Satan is a real evil god or if he's just a god in people's mind, and if (I think it was Deuterominy 10:17 that says Jehovah is Lord of lords) there are (according to Tim) no other lords either. Maybe this was answered and I missed it? Like I said before this is really interesting to me and I thought your input made sense to me anyways. Mary |

6 | One God, One Jesus Christ | 1 Cor 8:5 | Mary01 | 130599
Tara022, I have printed out all this that you wrote (the whole chain of posts) and am keeping it in a folder and mark it all up. I have studied it through and through and am very impressed! You are logical and scriptural. I wish you would post more as I am comparing what Jehovah's Witnesses write and what others write about them and their reasons for not agreeing with them. I then can decide what moves me to believe what God has told us through the Bible as to what is true. There are several that really hate the witnesses, I guess you noticed, but that too is told in the Bible would happen, especially when they (those that hate) are shown that they are wrong. Anyway, just letting you know that you are doing a good job and I can't but see the humor in the other posts that lack the logic and reasoning and depth in Bible knowledge. Keep it up. Mary |

7 | The fruitlessness of fighting | 1 Sam 17:47 | Mary01 | 121195
Hi Kalos, Thank you. I couldn't remember what it was called now. I hear about the various Europian countries but don't stay up with it all. Thank you again, educational. Mary01 |

8 | The fruitlessness of fighting | 1 Sam 17:47 | Mary01 | 121162
Hi Sir Pent, I liked your biography, very well written. Just wondering though, when you say "fighting" do you mean "fighting"? Let's say you lived in Czechoslovakia and Poland declared war on your country. And too let's say you are good Baptist. And your fleshly brother who also is a good Baptist, is a citizen of Poland. He has joined the war effort. Would you "fight" your brother? I really would like a well thought out answer to this as it's important to me, with scriptures. Mary01 |

9 | Simple analogy to understand the Trinity | 2 Cor 13:14 | Mary01 | 120993
Hello Sir Pent, Wow, you are right this is a lot to ponder. I'll have to re-read Tim's note several times to figure out what or better yet why he would said what he did. I understood your reply but Tim's seems illogical to me. I'll try and add a thought to this in the near future. Mary01 |

10 | Simple analogy to understand the Trinity | 2 Cor 13:14 | Mary01 | 120875
Hi Sir Pant, I appreciate your interest in me. I feel that I am a logical individual when it comes to analyzing controversial issues and endeavor to go out of my way to not be swayed by illogical conclusions. Please don’t get defensive though, as I dislike offending anyone either. I’m just trying to study all the pertinent issues and draw my own conclusions. I will though respond to your inquiry. You wrote the following: Support for my Trinity beliefs........................................ The Father is God. Eph 4:6 "one God and Father of all..." One of the Father's primary purposes is to determine the will of the whole Trinity. Luke 22:42 "Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me (Jesus); yet not My will, but Yours be done." The Son is God. John 1:1 "...the Word (Jesus) was God", John 10:30 "I (Jesus) and the Father are one." One of the Son's primary purposes is to reconcile humanity to God. 2 Cor 5:18 "Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation". The Holy Spirit is God. Acts 5:3-4 clearly equates lying to the Holy Spirit in verse 3 with lying to God in verse 4. There is further support in 1 Cor 2:10-11. One of the Spirit's primary purposes is to guide our daily lives. John 14:26 "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My (Jesus) name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you." 1) The Father is God, seems to me logical and non contradictory to other Bible passages. 2) Luke 22:42 saying that the Father’s primary purpose being to determine the will of the whole Trinity? I don’t understand what you are saying here. To me, Jesus is merely distressed over the reproach that the accusations of his opposes are bringing upon him be removed and his desiring to fulfill his Father’s will. 3) John 1:1 tells me that Jesus is God’s Word and the way the Greek was written that he was like God, a mighty spirit being. Then when it goes on and says that the Word is “with” God then tells me that logically he can’t be same God. And John 10:30 shows me that the two are one in unity, of the same mind on everything. 4) 2 Cor 5:18 tells me the same things it does to you. 5) Acts 5:3-4 I again agree with you that to me lying to God is the same as lying to the Holy Spirit but that doesn’t mean to me that that means the Holy Spirit is God otherwise Luke 12:10 wouldn‘t be logical, “And everyone that says a word against the Son of man, it will be forgiven him; but he that blasphemes against the holy spirit will not be forgiven it.” This verse tells me sinning against the Holy Sprit is unforgivable yet sinning against Jesus or the Father isn’t. 1 Cor 2:10-11 says the “spirit is “from God”, not “is” God. 6) The purpose of the Holy Spirit is to guide us to God, yes, I agree with you. I don’t see why you are seeing that that though makes the Holy Spirit out to be God himself. I see the definite unity of the three for sure. Sir Pent, as I’ve said, I’m learning and don’t pretend to know much. Yet, my favorite passages are John 17:3 and John 3:16 and I believe that if I keep an open mind and pray for God’s Holy Spirit through Jesus and work along its direction, that the truth will come my way. Thank you again for your interest in me. I feel my reasoning on the scriptures are different than yours but I feel it agrees with the Word of God and that’s all I’m interested in. I still am open to logical reasoning from both Trinitarians and those that aren’t. Mary01 |

11 | God's name or a title? | John 1:1 | Mary01 | 120687
Hello Bstudent, So, what is pagan doctrine? Why do you say the trinity is pagan? I want to know what the Bible teaches regardless of what those here on the forum are saying against you. I keep reading their posts and what they say the scriptures say and you know what? that's not what they say. I hope you stay on this forum and keep showing at least me anyway what the Bible says about the God of the Bible. Do you know where I could get information (accurate) on the history of the trinity doctrine? Something too, years ago I was told that Sir Isaac Newton researched something on the trinity. How would I find out about what he discovered? Thank Bstudent for showing us what the Bible says. Mary01 |

12 | who can explain to me? | John 1:1 | Mary01 | 120277
Hi again Eveready2004, Your English is just fine, don't worry about it. Your question is a very good question too, and I've have that same question. I think your comments are right on target, they are good questions. I have been reading most of the comments of bstudent and they seem to me very logical, but they aren't what most here on the forum agree with. Pray to Almighty God through Jesus that his truth continue to be revealed to you. I do. One last thing. It seems to me that you are on the right track. Mary01 |

14 | who can explain to me? | John 1:1 | Mary01 | 120271
Hello Eveready2004, I've wondered that too. And that's why I'm here on the forum. I have a lot of questions I want answered. I just don't understand how the Bible can say in one verse that the Word was God and then in the next breath say that the Word was with God. Something's not right. Mary01 |

15 | How does foreknowledge preclude free? | Gen 6:6 | Mary01 | 118504
Hello to you bstudent, I am reading, and taking notes on each and every one of your posts. I absolutely love them because I am understanding your reasoning and it seems to be reasonable/biblical. I have read weeks and weeks worth from those that are replying to you and they evidently are not being led by our Lord. I understand that "love" along with kindness and so forth should be a dominate quality displayed by Christians. This should be shown by what they write and it draws or repells me when it's done or not done even if what you write isn't what they believe. I believe the Bible. If you plan on leaving this forum, I would like to have your email so as to write you for more Biblical answers. Mine is carnold381@lycos.co.uk I'm looking forward to your next post. Mary01 |
