1 | how can i get the powers of the holy spi | Gal 5:16 | Lucantonio | 100777
First, one must be sure he is born again. That means to have confessed to be a sinner and have called on the Father to forgive you. Then , your motive for wanting this popwer must be sincere and right. Then, one can receive this gift,Acts 2:38, by faith. According to Scripture , speaking in tongues will follow. There will be many experiences since we are told to be filled with the Spirit. A lengthy subject , but enough to get you started in the right direction. |

2 | No speaking in tongues, no Holy Spirit? | Acts 2:4 | Lucantonio | 95069
Debbe, I myself am Spirit-baptized and try to keep filled. However, I find n o scripture for the belief thatall the gifts are received when one is baptized. Paul says in 1 cor 14:1 that we should desire the gifts and that we should especially seek to prophesy. Then 12:30 implies we don't have all the gifts but should desire the "best" gifts. There is no biblical teaching that all the gifts are received when saved or baptized, but praise God we can be led to seek certain ones and the Spirit Himself decides which ones we get, 1 Cor 12,11. God bless, Lucantonio |

3 | Does anyone have a good way to explain t | Bible general Archive 1 | Lucantonio | 95061
Truthfinder, May I make a contribution to your previous post regarding Col.15. The word firstborn cannot be taken literally as the context indicates. It is pro-tot-okos strng 4416 and expresses His priority to, and pre-eminence over not among creation not in the sense of being born. (Vincent the OT also helps in 1 Chron.26:10, where Simri, who was not the firstborn, bek-ore was made the roshe, which can mean the head first, ruler, or preferred one. See also Jer. 31:9, ...Heb 1060, Ephraim is my firstborn, he wasn't but should be understood as chief or preferred one. Unless one is truly born again by the word of God and the Holy Spirit, it is truly dificult to understand God's word. We must learn when to take scripture literally and when figuratively. No passage should be interpreted in such a way as to contradict others that deal with the same truth. Hope this has been helpful. Lucantonio |

4 | KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS? | Rev 1:1 | Lucantonio | 94638
Pastor Glenn, Greetings. I would be glad to enter this exchange if you are aware of the fact that the word Lord is spelled 3 different ways in the Bible. In your quote of Matt, 22:44,as many bibles do, you have not distinguished between LORD - all capitals, and Lord, small ord. This verse is from Ps 110:1 ,and the more faithful translations quote it with the proper punctuation. Incidently, if the Son is the Father, then language has no basis for the discussion of Bible texts. sincerely, Lucantonio |
