1 | FIRST MAN TO OFFER FORGIVENESS | Gen 33:4 | Loretta06 | 180490
Gen 33: 4,11 4. But Esau ran to meet Jacob and embraced him; he threw his arms around his neck and kissed him. And they wept. 11. Please accept the present that was brought to you, for God has been gracious to me and I have all I need." And because Jacob insisted, Esau accepted it. |

2 | from romans 6 12-14 two examples of sin | Rom 6:12 | Loretta06 | 180283
Someone mentioned 1 Cor 6:18. We learn that sexual sins are sins of the body. (I happened to read this verse a minute ago on another post)."Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body." - 1 Cor 6:18. "Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry." -Col 3:5 "The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery;" -Gal 5:19 These are examples. By prayer and God's help and support from friends you will be able to recognize a temptation, and say that small simple word: "NO!" My guess about what the Bible says about "How to offer my body (temple) to God:" "Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you? If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him; for God's temple is sacred, and you are that temple." - 1 Cor 3:16,17. Therefore protect your body from shame and damage (thereby protecting what God created)? "What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people." - 2 Cor 6:16. I don't know if this is realated, but can you "offer your body" by being near God? When you go about your tasks and people see you... do they want to sin... or follow God- when they hear, see, or follow as you do...? Basically, how can you LOOK/ACT like a Christian? "In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord." -Eph 2:21. Can you "offer your body to God" by attending church? This is a place where a united congregation praises, prays, learns and is warned by God and thanks God. PS. Please, Someone correct me if you think so! Are these verses out of context? Are they talking more about protecting the Holy Spirit, then about "offering"/protecting your body? |

3 | Why God ask Saul to kill if is forbidden | Bible general Archive 3 | Loretta06 | 180213
The Lord has COMMANDED the Israelites to kill. It's like the Lord is actually the one killing, not the people. The 10 commandments don't say that the LORD may not kill. Also, since God made individuals(psalm 139)then He can also kill them. Also, those nations were "in the way" of GOD's Plan. That land had be granted to God's people who followed and trusted him (sometimes:-) ). So, God the Creator and Destroyer of Evil, chose to COMMAND his people to kill. Oh, this is in Deuteronomy 7:1-2. "When the LORD your God brings you into the land where you are entering to possess it, and clears away many nations before you, the Hittites and the Girgashites and the Amorites and the Canaanites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and stronger than you, and when the LORD your God delivers them before you and you defeat them, then you shall utterly destroy them. You shall make no covenant with them and show no favor to them." Coincidentally, the Amalekites aren't mentioned as a nation to destroy. This is probably because they weren't occupying a huge piece of land since they had been mostly destroyed. Exodus 17:8 "Then Amalek came and fought against Israel at Rephidim."... Exodus 17:13. "So Joshua overwhelmed Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword." ...I don't know about "overwhelmed", the NIV says "overcame." Anyway, God COMMANDS them to destroy this nation too: "and he said, "The LORD has sworn; the LORD will have war against Amalek from generation to generation."-Exodus 17:16. |

4 | Why did God make some people handicapped | Ps 139:14 | Loretta06 | 180209
Searcher is right. It's also about trusting God in everything (the one needing help, and the relatives, family, friends, therapists). By mistake I looked up Luke 9 verse 1-3 instead of John 9:1-3. There, the 12 disciples went out to preach the gospel (probably for the rest of their lives). But in a way they were handicapped. They were not allowed to take staff, bag, bread, money or extra clothes. Wasn't that all about trust too? |

5 | God can use woman in the ministry? | Gal 3:28 | Loretta06 | 180196
Yes, God can use women in ministry as evangelists and missionaries and Sunday School teachers. God can teach them Biblical truths and messages in Bible college and in university so they in turn can teach others. But as ministers in a congregation? Women are the mothers (their primary role is caregiving) All of Proverbs 31. And the single and widowed? Read Timothy 5 for instructions to widows. I think the instructions for the widowed or just plain single are similar. In 1 Timothy 5 I don't read that singles are to be busy as ministers, no just be part of a family. |

7 | what does it mean to take oup your cross | Bible general Archive 3 | Loretta06 | 180188
This quote isn't complete. It's about 'Taking up your cross,' but ALSO, 'following God.' Jesus said to someone, "take up your cross and follow me." (...I'll have to look up where that is:) ) A person who has a big cross in both arms is a person who has decided to take the big burden somewhere important. I think if you carry a cross, it's a bit like carrying a bible in your hand and having the words to say to people who are questioning, doubting or sinning. This sort of person takes his burden everywhere, but sometimes leaves it at the entrance of the building (like work, the pub, the casino, the mall, or the grocery store, etc). And when the cross is dropped, so is the Bible and the desire to do what God wants/is right. I believe that when you follow God you have that cross in your arms. And like the poem of the foot-prints, I think God takes our cross in His arms either most or all of time in order that we may spread the gospel, do right, and continue to be near Him. After all, its when we are near God, or reading his Word, we discover really how amazing God is. A person with a cross has a goal of bringing that cross somewhere-of walking with it for God and near God. After all, who would carry a burden for no reason at all? |
