I do agree with you. I suppose I really just miss good bible dialoge and study. It seemed my husband and I were always disagreeing in our old church because of the heresy that was taught and I really don't want that to be the case again.

Thank you, My husband brought up the very same argument on Sunday morning. We are very cautious about checking the Scriptures and serching out for ourselves through prayer.

First let me tell you how much I appreciate you response. I am not sure if this is the way to let you know what happened in the situation above. I apologise for not getting back to you sooner. Anyway here is how it ended up. For the last appx 2 years my husband and I have become more and more concerned about this man's teaching. We at first excused it as confusion because of his age. He just forgot that kind of thing. Then we understood he was a serious threat to the young saints but were not sure how to react. We thought voicing our concerns to the Pastor was enough. He always assured us he was working on it. Anyway on the night of 5/19 before church my husband and I told the pastor if he considered us as responsible for what was being taught to the "sheep" as he was that we were certainly going to act. We told him we wanted to know if he had admonished this man and if so how many times. He said he had spoken with him several times but he was not clear to us if he actually had admonished him to stop this teaching. So we ask him to admonish him and tell him exactly that. Or if he wanted we would. We told him if this man continued in his heresy after being admonished two times we wanted him rejected from the church. (all according to Titus 3:10). The pastor agreed, that is until after church. He ask us to go to dinner with him after church and he said he had changed his mind. He said he had a plan. He was going to preach a sermon "so hot he may have to leave". He believed this would be the answer. He promised to be bold and plain in his preaching. We agreed to abide by his decision. He also agreed in that conversation that if the sermon didn't change things we could act as we had previously discussed. A week or so later the pastor preached. He did a good job but stopped short of declaring that the truth he was preaching was what his sheep would hear and to forbid anyone to teach anything else. Because he did not do that we had doubts in our heart but my husband and I both kept quiet. At the deacons and church leaders meeting in June we were shocked when the pastor made a motion to make this man the Superintendent of the Sunday School. My husband and I could not be silent then. We ask the pastor "Aren't you concerned about your differences in doctrine?" To this he responded that this man was a great asset to the church. He had put more money and time in than anyone else. He was not concerned that they couldn't get along with their differences. To this my husband and I just said we had to vote against this. There was no vote taken that morning. It was suggested by this man that everyone wait and pray about it and vote another time. We didn't go back for a few services and when we did it was to give our letters of resignation, deacon's papers, and keys to the church. We realized that a croud was more important to the Pastor that spritual growth. We now attend a much larger church. We are basically recovering and getting strength. I still feel such sorrow and grief when I know they are meeting for service. But we have not had a moment of doubt that we did the correct thing. Anyway I know this was lengthy and late in coming. Forgive me, your sister in Christ, Theresa |

I am fairly new to this site and am slowly finding my way around. This subject interests me because a new class I am in at church is teaching the "gap theory" with the "pre-adamic man" theory. I wanted to see what I could find here to help me in my study. I have read much of the discussions on Gen 1:1. I found DocSpock to be particularily helpful and informative and very much appreciated the way he avoided inserting his own belief. I will now throw out a few thoughts to see what you other brothers and sisters think. What if the space of time was after the creation? Do we really know how long Adam and Eve lived here in their perfect fellowship with God before they fell? Would it be likely that Eve took the advise of a serpent if she had not been conversing with it previously? And mustn't she have been accustomed to talking to creatures or she would have been alarmed? And would she really have known the full extent of her curse or punishment in having pain in childbearing if she had not previously had children with no suffering? Adam would I suppose always remember how easy it had been to dress and keep the earth prior to thorns and such. I just have a hard time believing anyone can go from that kind of relationship with God to high treason in a short time. Again just a thought but I would like comments. Thank you and God Bless you all. |

8 | Urgent and swift help needed!! | Eph 6:12 | Lambo | 5836
I know that your are right. He is in control of the money in our church. He and his brother (who does not attend our church) are the trustees. About a year and a half ago the pastor told us he had ask to get a financial report and to be added as a trustee. He got a report that was not clear. He ask my husband and me to bring it up too. We did and it was with great relunctance he started providing a statement. Which is not really complete. It does not reflect all the money that is paid out or comes in. I know this because we are building a new sanctuary and no payment to workers is reflected. Though I know we pay some unemployed members to work. He also as far as I know has not made the pastor a trustee. I told the pastor in the same conversation I mentioned that I would rather move down the street and pitch a tent than continue as things are. He said he thought God would understand we didn't agree with this doctrine and would continue to bless our church. I told him God cares if it is one piece of silver hidden under one small tent. Anyway thank you so much. The first response I got here was good too, but we have been praying and fasting for over a year to try to continue as things are. God is no longer blessing our services as He once did. So many people have left. And yes nearly anyone I have spoken with who has any maturity is upset and concerned too. I just haven't spoken much to others. I am so fearful of being a gossip or talking out of turn about my fellow believers. I guess that has hindered me more than anything else. So thank you again. We plan to talk with the Pastor tonight and let him know we will no longer allow this to continue.

I am brand new to this site. I am in urgent need of advice from fellow believers. I am a member of a church in WV. My husband is a deacon. We have a man in the church who is more highly recognized and sought out than our Pastor. He was a "founder" of the church from many years back. My problem is with him. He has some very strange doctrine. I will mention a few. 1. Paul had the same experience as the apostles at pentacost ( I don't doubt this part), but in the same upper room and 40 years AFTER his conversion on the road to Damascus! 2. Lazarus was not really dead when Christ called him out of the tomb. 3. Satan, the devil, and Lucifer are not the same being. 4. Satan has been transformed into an angel of light and is now a good angel. 5. The devil is locked away in hell and does not go to and fro through the earth seeking whom he may devour. He claims he just paces back and forth in the pit. This is just of a few of the outrages he teaches. He preaches ocassionally in the church, but he is on our radio ministry every Sat. evening. He is not overt about this in these two situations. He is more subtle. He takes young believers aside and goes into their homes and subverts them. My husband and I have talked to the pastor about this and he seems unwilling to force this man to stop. He periodically preaches the truth about these things esp. the devil part, but does not contrast the truth to the lie. (gives the doctrine of the lie and shows how it is false). He says he has told this "elder" that he does not agree with this doctrine. But the man is in rebellion and will not stop teaching it to others. The last conversation I had with my pastor I told him he need to be more careful because he is responsible for the "sheep" and is responsible for what we are fed from his pulpit and from his church. He told me that he was no more responsible than anyone else. This brings me to my question. If he is telling us, my husband and me, that we are also responsible then I cannot let this go on. I feel one of us has to confront this and present the truth. We have to tell this man to stop subverting the others or we will take him before the church. Am I correct on this process? I have spoken with other ministers and the youth pastor and the church is so divided and torn. All with any maturity know this is a lie but the young christians are saying they are so confused and don't know what to believe. Any help from anyone even if you need to correct me I need to know. I plan to act swiftly. I am ready to leave this church if this doesn't change and I don't want to do that if I can avoid it. Thank you and God Bless you all. Theresa |
