1 | How Old was Joseph when he was sold into | Gen 37:28 | Ladyborg | 225752
Gen 37:2 tells us Joseph was 17 when he had his dream of his parents and brothers bowing down to him. The next story in the Scriptures is the one of him being sold into slavery, the Bible does not tell us how much time elapsed between those verses, but at least he was 17.
2 | Religion Unfounded on Theology? | Acts 19:8 | Ladyborg | 225750
Well-written! I completely agree, one's Salvation comes from both a heart knowledge AND a head knowledge, the two cannot be separated. If you go only by the former (the feelings), you reduce it to liver-quiver which leads to the constant need to FEEL something. On the other hand, if you have only head knowledge you have no relationship with Christ. Without head knowledge (knowing with the Scriptures say) you cannot be a Berean, i.e. a mature, discerning Christian telling Truth from falsehood. When you love someone you need to both spend time with him AND get to know him. The Scriptures reveal the One we love, His character and faithfulness on every single page. A mature Christian has a hunger to be in and with Him constantly. |

3 | 2 people made fun of moses | Ex 2:13 | Ladyborg | 225749
Moses was disregarded many times throughout the Scriptures, but In Exo. 2:13-14 it mentions 2 Hebrews (however not by name) who were fighting and he tried to stop them. They told him off by saying 'Who made you a prince or a judge over us? Are you intending to kill me as you killed the Egyptian?" (Moses had killed him in defense of a Hebrew [Acts 7:24]). Is that what you were thinking of? |

4 | Did David Read the Book of Job? | Ps 8:4 | Ladyborg | 225747
Job 7:17 is reminiscent of Psalm 8:4 and 144:3 (both written by David). It is surmised that Job is the oldest book in the Bible in that it was probably written before the Law of Moses (thus way before David). I wondered if David had any access to the book of Job, since the Psamls were obviously written much later. |

5 | Biblical roof Shroud of Turin is a fake | John 20:7 | Ladyborg | 177090
This verse is proof that the shroud of Turin (should anyone still have any doubts) is a fake. As you can see, it was the custom of the day to wrap the head with a different piece of cloth (this is recorded also in the scene in Lazarus' tomb, when Jesus resuscitated him (John 11:44). The shroud of Turin purports to show the entire body (including face) of Jesus in one contiguous piece of cloth.
6 | Is it biblical to hide when evil comes? | Prov 3:7 | Ladyborg | 161398
All those good passages speak to running from evil as from Satan. Is that what you were asking about? The short version of your question seems you were asking more about having courage and strength, rather than fleeing evil. One of my favorite verses is Dan 11:32: "...the people who know their God will display strength and take action." There are MANY more passages regarding strength and courage in the Lord. |

7 | what it is to be born again? | 2 Cor 5:17 | Ladyborg | 161397
I think II Cor 5:17 explains it most eloquently. (Also John 3:3). One who is born again will see the Kingdom of God. To do so, one must be "reborn" into the body of Christ, believe in Him, as Savior.
8 | Eze 39:2 ver. omit # of enemy survivors | Ezek 39:2 | Ladyborg | 161389
Doc, I don't think you're wrong, and I appreciate the input. I felt the time I spend learning another language, although I feel it would come easy to me, is time taken away from learning God's Word - which I would not want to do. Furthermore, I felt my pride would be benefitting more than my Bible study. And we all know what the Bible says about pride :o) I feel as long as one is using a version of the Bible which originated from a source which can be trusted, I believe it doesn't take learning in the original language in which the books were written in order to have Truth revealed to you. Especially as it is the Holy Spirit who reveals it - in any and all languages. No one should consider any one or any source "inerrant", that's why I John 4:1 tells us to measure everything we hear by the word of God. I think it WOULD be nice to know if a word in the original is masculine, feminine, plural or singular. I don't disagree, there may be precious insight to gain by reading the texts in the original languages. I may still choose to learn one or both, since I do enjoy learning new languages. However, I don't think it will necessarily reveal any more of God's Word to me. |

9 | Eze 39:2 ver. omit # of enemy survivors | Ezek 39:2 | Ladyborg | 161385
No, it's saying, I'd rather spend the time learning God's Word, which, as Mark pointed out, is revealed to us through the Holy Spirit, whatever language you read it in - whatever your education level or language you read it in. So rather than spend time adding yet another language to my repertoire, I would rather concentrate on God's Word.
10 | Eze 39:2 ver. omit # of enemy survivors | Ezek 39:2 | Ladyborg | 161368
Mark, thanks for the advice. I've decided to learn neither......it would take away from my Bible study time.
11 | Eze 39:2 ver. omit # of enemy survivors | Ezek 39:2 | Ladyborg | 160745
Chris, Thanks for the insight. You must be in seminary. Perhaps you can help me. I have been thinking of learning either Greek or Hebrew for a deeper understanding of the original texts. I am very good with languages, have 4 fluent ones under my belt, so-to-speak. If you know, what would you recommend. I'm sure I will do as good or bad in either, but don't know which would be more fulfilling (if either). If you have any insight on this I thank you for your response in advance. I'm not interested in preaching, I don't believe women should be preachers, this is only for personal gratification and study. Thanks, Lu |

12 | Eze 39:2 ver. omit # of enemy survivors | Ezek 39:2 | Ladyborg | 160716
I am curious. Eze. 39:2 talks of a future attack on Israel by their enemies, a coalition of Russian and Arabs. The KJV makes mention of the exact number of Israel's enemies which will survive the attack.....a mere 1 in 6!!! KJV: "And I will turn thee back, and leave but the sixth part of thee, and will cause thee to come up from the north parts, and will bring thee upon the mountains of Israel" Why do other versions (I use mainly the NASB) omit this VEEEEEEEERY important fact?????????????? |

13 | Luke 3:33 Genealogy quandry | Luke 3:33 | Ladyborg | 159165
Why does the NASB and Amplified both include "son of Admin" in the genealogy listed in Luke 3:33, but other versions do not? This would make Ram the grandfather of Amminadab, rather than his father. Examples: NIV the son of Amminadab, the son of Ram, the son of Hezron, the son of Perez, KJV Which was the son of Aminadab, which was the son of Aram, which was the son of Esrom, which was the son of Phares, which was the son of Juda, ASV the son of Amminadab, the son of Arni, the son of Hezron, the son of Perez, the son of Judah, Compared to Matt 1:4 (NASB) Ram was the father of Amminadab, Amminadab the father of Nahshon, and Nahshon the father of Salmon. And Ruth 4:19 (NASB) and to Hezron was born Ram, and to Ram, Amminadab |
