2 | Does following cost? | Luke 14:33 | Knowing God | 79613
I would like to share my personal testimony. I believe that Scripture always has to be understood in the context in which it was given. so therefore, you must read Scripture before and after, and since this Scripture was referenced from the Gospels, you must compare Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John to fill in the whole picture. Anyway, Jesus did say, if anyone would come after me, he must deny himself, daily, take up his cross and follow me. The heart that has heard the voice of the Good Shepherd is not a heart of this world. Our heart truly has been transformed to that of the Lord Jesus Christ and therefore longs to respond to Him. This heart can not love the world, neither the things that are in the world for all that is in the world is the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life. What the world may consider to be a sacrifice, or foolishness, is contrary to what God considers. God considers the foolish things of the world, to confound the wise things and the weak things to confound the mighty. Possessions can come in many different forms. There are the material possessions, there are psychological possessions such as ego, treasuring our mind,; there is spiritual possessions that we must give up - self-gratification, pride, rebellion, right to ourselves, to live as we please, to be self-directed. Possessions can come in people, places, or things. Sometimes a family member stands in the way of our following Christ. Sometimes, it is love of house, car, clothes, money, power. Sometimes it is lust! Actually, anything we desire over Christ, we should consider it to be lusted over. To be a disciple means that there can be no earthly tie that stands between you and the Lord. Remember, Andrew wanted to go back and take care of some business with his family. I have learned that nothing is more important than my relationship with Jesus. I must covet that more than I covet anything in this world. When I find myself in conflict with that, I must find out what that something is immediately, and give it up to God by annihilating it, utterly. Thou shalt have no other gods before me. God is a jealous God. His name is Jealous and He is jealous over you.
3 | Are all sins equal and delt with the sam | Matt 5:28 | Knowing God | 79428
In the study of the doctrine of sin, it is believed that sin is sin, no matter who commits it; it is both an offense to and violation of God's holiness Romans 6:22 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Without Christ in our lives, we stand in a state of guilt before God. We received at birth a sinful nature and so we are polluted by sin as well--hence our willful and personal rebellion. It isn't some parts of us that are fallen, but our whole person. We prove that fact every day that we have a sinful nature. By our human nature, we are the children of wrath. Ephesians 2 tells us that we were made alive in Christ: As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath. I believe that the important thing to focus on as a Christian, is that we stand in a posture of being justified once and for all according to Romans 5:1. Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, Our position before the Lord is immutable but our personal fellowship with the Lord and the body of Christ (the church) will be disrupted by sin, sometimes severely. Hebrews 12:5-7 And you have forgotten that word of encouragement that addresses you as sons: "My son, do not make light of the Lord's discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son."Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father?" So I believe that the point I'm making is that we can spend all day and night arguing about what sin is or is not greater than the other. No matter what the sin is, it is offensive to God and separates us from him. Our responsibility is to immediately, confess our sins according to 1 John 1:9 and repent of it. This is the message we must promote and not get caught us in legal mumbo jumbo about varying degrees of sin. Sin is sin. God bless! |

4 | What exactly must a person to be saved? | NT general Archive 1 | Knowing God | 79413
Here are some basic scriptures for you to read and then allow the Lord to minister to your heart personally. He will speak directly to you and then he will confirm what he has told you through His Word, the church, the Holy Spirit, or someone else. Romans 3:23 - For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. We all have sinned. John 3:3 - Jesus answered...except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. We all need a new birth. 1 John 4:10 - Herein in love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. God loves each of us! 1 Corinthians 15:3 - How that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures. Christ died for our sins. Romans 6:23 - For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Salvation is a free gift. John 1:12 - But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God. We become children of God by receiving Christ as Savior. Titus 3:5 - Not by work sof righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us. We are not saved by our good works. John 10:9 - I (Jesus) am the door: by Me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out and find pasture. Jesus is the door to salvation. 1 John 1:7 - The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin. You are cleansed from all your sin through the blood of Christ. 2 Corinthians6:2 - Behold now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation. You are expected to get right with God at once! Two simple conditions of salvation are repentance, and faith. Luke 13:5 - Except ye repent ye shall all likewise perish. Acts 16:31 - Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved and thy house. Pray this prayer: Jesus, I long to be in relationship with God and I accept what You have done at calvary's cross to make that possible. Please come into my heart today and my life today and be my Savior. I accept You as the Son of God and as my Savior. Romans 10:9 - If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Mark 8:38 - If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his Father's glory with the holy angels." The purpose of making a public confession is for the sake of other believers. The public confession does not in any way grant you salvation. It is just a way of aligning yourself with the church of Christ and making a declaration of your true beliefs. Accepting Christ in your heart comes before you actually make your public confession. You can make it in the presence of any spirit-filled believer. It can be 1 person or a whole company, or, it can be just you and Christ and the angels. There is no stipulation in the Bible that says, you have to have anyone around. The stipulation is that you repent of your sins, call upon the name of the Lord, and you shall be saved. Acts 2:21 And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.[Acts 2:21 Joel 2:2832] |
