2 | Saved vs. Works (John 5:24 and 5:28-29) | John 5:24 | Kickingguru22 | 122131
In this text the leadership was questioning Him about healing on the Sabbath. He was basically establishing who He really was. 5:24 - He is the redeemer and sacrifice. The fulfillment of prophecy. 5:28-29 - He is the Judge of those who are not under Grace. He has perfect understanding and Judges rightly. Possibly, to judge those before His death on the merits of their lives, which is still based on faith more than works. Read Hebrews 11 to understand that God viewed the Old Testament believers in terms of their great faith that then led to works. You cannot have good works with out a proper faith. The idea of good and evil is not based on the action, but on the motivation. Going to the Temple on the sabbath and performing the right rituals mean nothing if you do not believe they do anything for you. Giving to someone is good, but if it was for future gain only, your motivation was evil. We cannot deem for sure any action right or wrong because we cannot see the heart as God can. His Judgements will be just. No one is with excuse..... Too much babbling... Kickingguru22 |

3 | Is Hell fire literal that burns forever? | John 5:24 | Kickingguru22 | 122127
The beleiver has no fear of Hell. Yet a believer must fear that for others sake. Some today either do not believe in hell or think that a loving God would not send people to that place. This is in many liberal ideas of Christianity. EX. A pastor once expressed to me that he would rather some one stay neutral or as is about God than possibly turn them off by sharing the Good News with them. This pastor did not fear the idea that many in his own congregation may experience hell. He seldom if ever challenged them to evaluate their own relationships with God. Messages were feel good, this is what the text is saying messages with no real application to real life. I felt many who attended did not understand a saving faith. The pastor would never find out in fear of "Turning them off". As is everything in life, a proper balance is in order. We have blessed assurance and need to allow others to find it. |

4 | Is Hell fire literal that burns forever? | John 5:24 | Kickingguru22 | 122115
Our understanding of language now and then can get confused. I do not have a full comprehension of all of its compexities. I think you need to begin a conversation about hell with the things we do know. 1. We are transformed into a different being when we die. We are no longer flesh and blood, but have a new form. Will fire burn our new bodies or will there even be physical pain? I really don't know for sure. I just have my opinions on that one. 2. There will be extreme suffering in hell. This will be a place of weeping and gnashing of teeth. It is the place you realize you are separated from your Creator for eternity. You will have the eternal feeling of being wrong (One of the worst feelings humans have), and either will be weeping, or take the prideful gnashing of teeth route and be angry and revengeful. A complete emptiness of life throughout eternity. 3. We choose to go there. God will not force us in to heaven. If we choose to not have a relationship with God, he will let us feel the consequences of that decision. This is the perfect love of God. He allows us to make volitional choices and will not interfere even if it is for our own good. 4. We must do all we can to allow others to choose God and not hell. This is an interesting balance of our choices and life working in with God's will for eternity and who is there. We are called to go and share, yet does that mean that we are responsible for people going to heaven? Not at all, God works His perfect will through others. This is something our feable, finite mind cannot fathom. My two cents worth... Josh |
