1 | Trials or Temptations | James 1:2 | KenD | 90952
I taught on James 1 this morning (7/27) and had a question come up about this verse. The person asking the question is a very devoted KJV reader and KJ says "temptations" not trials. All my commentary information followed along a definition of external events which come into the life of people (loss of job, health, prodigal child etc....) Later in James the use of the word "temptation" is used in the sense most think of, an enticement to sin. I did not have an answer as to why trial was a better translation than tribulation. As I type this, I will be continuing my search to see if I can find a reason for thinking trials is a better translation than temptations. Are the words trials and temptations the same in Greek ? To me there is quite a difference between trials and temptations. Thanks for your help. KenD |

2 | Mother or Grandmother | 1 Kin 15:10 | KenD | 82137
Mother or Grandmother ? Looking at other translations I see grandmother. Researching the Chronicles seems to support grandmother also. Help, I will be teaching from this chapter on Sunday and I know the question is going to come up.
3 | Question on Question Mark | John 20:29 | KenD | 75098
The question mark in this verse is not in some other translations. Was Jesus asking Thomas a question ? A popular reading in other translations says "you have believed" another says "thou hast believed" These seem to show Jesus is affirming Thomas's belief. Thanks for any input. KenD |

4 | Christ as advocate | John 16:26 | KenD | 71877
Preparing to teach this passage on 1/12 and just not quite grasping the meaning. Jesus as our advocate and intercessor is taught throughout NT, and I am just having a difficult time with this verse where He says He will not ask the Father on disciples behalf. Thanks for any and all input
