4 | Is the Heart and Soul the same? | Bible general Archive 2 | Ken hepting | 101755
[In most cases the Heart is referenced as a seat of our emotions. The soul is referenced as center of our conscience or the essence of our being.] I believe you may have that in reverse, EdB. The soul houses the mind, will, and emotions, correct? The Lord gives us a new "heart" of flesh, taking away the stony one, by the disposition of Himself within us at "new birth" which then brings a fresh desire to purify our soul making us into that new man that can be one with Him.[Jn.17] This endeavor to overcome is spurred on by our vision of the kingdom. Without that vision we perish in our effort to be. |

6 | Titus 3:5 regeneration help please | John 3:3 | Ken hepting | 101753
[As to the nature of the change, it consists in the implanting of a new principle or disposition in the soul; the impartation of spiritual life to those who are by nature "dead in trespasses and sins."] The word "impartation" implies a gradual process. It would be supposed that we have something to with that process of regeneration, don't you think? Not unto justification but unto sanctification, innocence to purity. |

7 | Prayer without an Answer??? | John 17:23 | Ken hepting | 101739
If you believe God to be God then you must believe He already knows what you want when you pray. I can say everything to Him in about 3-4 mins. So why pray, you might ask? It's to get to know Him. The best way to pray is in the Spirit per 1 Corth 14. We don't know how to pray anyway, but the spirit does. The Spirit makes intercession for us in our behalf. It is He who has the mind of the Father. If this all sounds confusing it's because you've had no good teaching on the Baptism of the Holy Ghost per Acts 2. Not much of mainstream Christianity gets any these days. Everything is programs to discover yourself. Ken |

8 | Born again. Giving or receiving? | John 3:3 | Ken hepting | 101726
I couldn't agree more. That's why I've been stressing His FAITH and not mine is what God is after in our lives. My faith takes me to Him for salvation and then [*If I choose to go further] He gives me His FAITH unto a "Born Again" relationship in Him. It's His Life in me produced by my overcoming the old nature [1 Peter] that Father is after unto a fullness in Christ. That's why we are to set about learning Him. God's will for my [your] life is to become as Jesus, the man. *Note: If I don't choose to go further will I indeed, be saved? Maybe as by fire? That's a question mark in my thinking. |

9 | Born again. Giving or receiving? | John 3:3 | Ken hepting | 101725
[At the same time, I think that we might need to consider that growing up does not make us more or less of a son. Sons (and daughters) are born, not made.] No....tutored unto it. It's patterned after the Roman example of adoption. Jesus is our example in all this. Isaiah 9:6 (NASB) For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; We are born children to be tutored by the Holy Spirit and then be presented to the Father as "sons".. |

10 | What is "born again?" | Luke 14:26 | Ken hepting | 101714
I posted this elsware for Searcher: Consider this: [and I don't necessarily think I'm correct, but I don't think I'm all wrong if, at all] "Many are called, but few are chosen" Who are the called but the "saved", i.e., those who believe Christ as savior, for eternal life, because of the cross and the blood that was shed for everyone. They are now called up to something. That something is to become a "son unto the Father" ergo, a "son brought into glory". [Jn 17] Freewill, being an unchanging factor, in the thing must still be considered when God, in His wisdom God chooses those who He reveals Himself to to become a son since they have chosen Him; They want to KNOW Him. But, "Let him who builds, count the cost...." Jn. 3.3,5. These are they that want to know Christ as more than just savior. The Beatittudes are now the thing that come into focus especially the one "Those who hunger and thirst...". Do you want to know God? Enter the great commandment. Learn how to. |

14 | What comes after I'm saved? | Luke 14:26 | Ken hepting | 101697
First off, the Great Commandment must be a reality in ones life who claim Christ as LORD. Secondly, the practical working/walking out of the thing will be in relationships we establish and circumstances placed in our lives either by God or otherwise it must be cultivated within to recognize God in all matters of our life....Proverbs 16:9 (NASB) The mind of man plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps. This is especially true of the child of God seeking to become a son....... John 1:12 (YLT) but as many as did receive him to them he gave authority to become sons of God—to those believing in his name, How I'd do so far? |

17 | Christ and Christians? | Luke 14:26 | Ken hepting | 101606
Matthew 5:48 - "Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect." Think being born again is hard, try this one. Ouch. Sorry, no can do. Yet it is Jesus' imperative command, isn't it? seeking4truth You place that before the right man because that IS what the journey in Christ is all about. That's the path of righteousness AFTER you are born again. If it wasn't attainable Jesus would never have stated it. If you say, "Father I want to know you" be prepared for the journey that will take you home to Father's house. . It's sometimes called "Bringing son's into Glory" per: Hebrews 2:10 (NASB) For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to perfect the author of their salvation through sufferings. We will be perfected as He [Jesus the MAN] was or we won't be the "Church without spot or wrinkle" who He comes for.. "that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she should be holy and blameless". ...Ephes. 5:27 (NASB) No denominational thing here except to get rid of it. Lets be about ...Becoming. |

18 | Christ and Christians? | Luke 14:26 | Ken hepting | 101573
Are Christians on shakey ground when they claim to believe in Jesus Christ but either limit or dismiss some of His teachings? I am not questioning Christ's person at this point. But I am curious to what extent I can call myself a Christian if I disregard the clear teachings of the one I claim to follow.......seeking4truth Did you follow this one: John 3:7 (NASB) "...... 'You must be born again.' |

19 | Ken, are you sure? | Luke 14:26 | Ken hepting | 101572
No, I'm still seeking. And I always will be. But *I* determine what I'm seeking, you don't. I simply don't wish to argue with you. That's all. seeking4truth Ah, I see. In other words you've determined I'm arguing instead of bringing correction/adjustment into the deal. .....I sense you have a need to be right. If that's the case I stand by supposing you not to be seeking but to have your mind already made up and snapped shut. Am I wrong in that? I don't think so...I've read too many of your posts. |
