1 | Why was Jehu punished for being obeying? | Hos 1:4 | Johnny3 | 13589
My mistake. Wrong verse. Read this one: 2 Kings 10:31. "Yet Jehu was not careful to keep the law of the LORD, the God of Israel, with all his heart. He did not turn away from the sins of Jeroboam, which he had caused Israel to commit." |

2 | Demon-possessed believer? | Luke 4:33 | Johnny3 | 13387
Hello JVH: Don't worry. It's hard to hurt me when I remember the love of God. Actually, we are the saying the same thing. In the lead to destroy, I mean to refer to the tactics of the enemy that tend to discourage, cause seperation, anger, unforgiveness and such. There are those that come into a congregation to stir up trouble between brothers. This is overcome when we remember to love and forgive one another, thus frustrating the enemies tactics. In the second case, I seem to have left out a word as I was typing. Because it is true that Lucifer comes as an angel of light, though the true light is not in him. Remember, the enemy is Satan and not man. Man is whom we as our Father (Luke 3) is attempting to save. That is why we first must have love in us. Then we can come to those to talk to those who are deceived. If we are unable to convince them, then we bring the elders of the church. And if they still will not change their ways, they have shown who they prefer to follow and must be sent away to walk without God in hopes that they will repent. It is sorrowful when a man is bent to rebel against God, to walk in his own way, not acknowledging the Father by whom we have life, nor His son by whom is Salvation, or the Holy Sprit through whom is the surety of our hope. |

3 | The law doesn't restore. | Gal 2:19 | Johnny3 | 13382
Read through the laws in the OT. You will note that they themselves report that they cannot save a person but only condemn. However, also written there, you will find that it states over and over, "The forgivenes of sin is by the sheading of blood". Let's say its a loop-hole. Jesus came and completed this. The punsihment for sin is death. Jesus was without sin. We know that one person can take the place of another for a crime if that person is first not guilty, second willing, and three the parent. First Christ is not guilty. Second, he went willingly; he was not murdered. And third, He is God in the flesh of mortal man. If this was not enough, then consider this. Many say that the Law has presidence since it came first. However, it did not come first. Look at the Bible from Adam till the time of Moses. Over and over you will find where the Holy Patriarchs are considered righteous by their faith in God as living and real, right and final. Abraham married his half sister. Jacob married two sisters. Noah got drunk. These are sins by the Law. But God showed grace to them, pardonning them and extending righteousness to them. Or did you think the whole goal was to become without sin? Then keep in mind that when we die we will be without sin, but we will not be righteous except for our heart turned from rebellion to God through Christ. |

4 | Demon-possessed believer? | Luke 4:33 | Johnny3 | 13381
Satan believes in God and yet it does not change him. Satan reads scripture and yet he is still against God. In Job, Satan talks with God. It says that Satan also is an angel of light, a deceiver. Some might refer to this as a sheep in wolves clouthing. One should think that there is some mystical thing that will keep Satan from entering a church and deceiving. Paul talks of a Jezebel that deceived the congregation. Paul also talked about those in the congregation that sow strife between brothers. And all would agree that one is known by his deeds. It starts with that the desire of God's heart is to love us. We in turn are changed and overcome by this love. We no longer live to obtain what the world has to offer buy instead to demonstrate the love of God that is flowing out of us. Some will allow their flesh to lead them astray; this is not demon possession. However, there are those who enter the congregation to deceive lead astray and destory. For this it is better to love and forgive. After all the commandment of Christ is that we love one another and in so doing we will confirm to our hearts our salvation (Read I John).
5 | Why was Jehu punished for being obeying? | Hos 1:4 | Johnny3 | 13379
It is in I Kings 16. You will see that Jehu led the people away from God to worship idles and to do evil.
6 | Why didn't tHe relent from His anger? | 2 Kin 23:26 | Johnny3 | 13378
True, Manasseh was a very wicked King. You will also find mention of God making this statement in regards to others in the Bible such as Saul, Edom and so forth. Yet, you will also see him forgive David of all his terrible sins. The differnece is in the heart. One heart continued in rebellion and was only sorrowful for the punishment and what would be suffered. The other heart cared deeply about God's opinion and loved the punishment, knowing that God was correct and would heal and remove the evil in the heart. The difference is that one dispised the punishment and the other did not.
7 | Why is the king's mother mentioned? | 2 Kin 23:36 | Johnny3 | 13377
Well, it was obvious who the father was. And since each king had so many wives, it was necesary to distinguish. In some places you will also note that they do this to point out that the kings had foreign wives which was against the law of Moses, and thus how the influence of the mother effected the outcome of Israel, just as the scripture worns would happen.

Thanks for the reply Nolan. Do you ever doubt that God loves you?
9 | The desire of God's heart | Matt 10:8 | Johnny3 | 13250
Once I was talking with God about the desire of His heart. I figured that knowing it would be the only way that I would know what to say to each person that I met at the Union Gospel Mission. Do I confront their sin? Do I tell them of the love of God? I didn't know what to say. The following Sunday the pastor went on talking of some subject that I don't remember. But he mentioned this verse: "Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give." I noted that the demon pocessed person hadn't done anything worthy of God and was against God. Yet God was concerned to have him healed and set free. It occured to me that the desire of God's heart is to love us.
10 | Was Adam God's son? in Luke 3 chp. vs 38 | Luke 3:38 | Johnny3 | 13248
As you have read from others, Adam was God's son. This means that we are all decendants of God. This leads to another understanding to the story of the Prodigal Son. The world went away seeking what was there. What the world offers runs out. The Jews were there the whole time and where upset when God excepted us back. All of us should take note of who we are and understand why the Devil is so bent on destroying mankind. All of us should be patient with one another and encourage one another with love. |
