1 | Please clarify Proverb 19:23 for me. | Prov 19:23 | JohnDiscipleship | 201089
I believe this Proverb can be answered on two levels. 1) If we trust God and keep his commandments we will go to rest with him where there is no longer any sorrow in heaven.John 14:1-3 2)If we trust God and keep his commandments we will enter into his peace and when we are going through troubles we will be able to rest in the knowledge that God is in control. 1Corinthians 10:13 Hope that helps, God's best |

I am conducting a study on Monday night on anger. In the study I want to look at what the Bible has to say about anger, how to deal with anger in your own life and how to deal with an angry person. 6 | Should the church promte make up? | 1 Tim 2:9 | JohnDiscipleship | 194200
could I please have some help with this passage. Some of the churches in my town are promoting the use of make up as a way of looking beautiful for God. This is causing quite a few arguments among the women, but even more so amongst the men! Some are saying that it is cultural and some are saying that it is worldly. The people who are promoting the make up are handing out free make up packs in church. Would love to know what you all think God's best. John D
7 | Why worship only the Father | John 4:23 | JohnDiscipleship | 192900
I think That when we worship the Father we can only truly do that if - We are drawn by the Spirit and if we Are in Christ (I am the way and the TRUTH and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.)So true worship involves every part of the Trinity. We can thank God for His Spirit and His Son and we can offer them praise for their specific roles. God bless John D |

8 | As Christians what is our role in war | Matt 5:44 | JohnDiscipleship | 192651
I want to make a sincere apology to anyone who is offended by my question about a Christians role in war. I find it hard to read the old testament with all the killing that takes place compared to the new testament teachings. Would I defend my family if they were attacked? I probably would. I believe that the armed forces should be more defensive than aggressive but that is a personal view. You can be a Christian anywhere and the law you have to follow is God's law as you understand it. My quest is to understand the way to live in this world in such a way that I obey what Jesus said in Matt 28v19-20. God bless John D |

9 | As Christians what is our role in war | Matt 5:44 | JohnDiscipleship | 192650
Doc I have not questioned the role of Christians in war to dishonor Christians who have found them selves in clear concience fighting for what they believe to be true. What I am trying to understand is how do we decide who should die. With love John D |

10 | As Christians what is our role in war | Matt 5:44 | JohnDiscipleship | 192649
Brad my point for asking this question is because I have trouble with a Christian view that thinks we should shoot our enemies rather than pray for them. I don't think that anyone should tell another Christian to kill someone else no matter what they have done, as this places us in judgement of others. I believe that this is a study of scripture as Jesus tells us in Matt 5v38-39 not to take an eye for an eye but to turn the other cheek. God bless John D |

11 | As Christians what is our role in war | Matt 5:44 | JohnDiscipleship | 192632
There is killing in time of war, but are we to be the killers (we meaning Christians) or are we meant to be the healers? Eccl. 3 v3 There is a time to kill and a time to HEAL. Surely we must follow Christs example in this and not hit back at those who attack us. Eph. 6v12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against rulers , against the authorities, against the spiritual forcesof evil in the heavenly realms. Eph.6v15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. Let us make sure that we are following the way that Christ has set for us and that we don't get caught up in the battles of this world. God bless and grant you his peace. Amen |

12 | Is it O.K. to question the Scriptures? | 1 Cor 2:2 | JohnDiscipleship | 192603
It is good to question, but not jump to early conclusions. I think that one of the clues to understanding how God created things is in Genesis Ch 1v21 everything was made according to its own kind. Within that framework everything was given the ability to adapt to the enviroment around it. That is often confused with evolution, what it should be called is the process of adaptation. You will notice that dogs that have adapted to all sorts of enviroments and tasks but they can still interbreed. The reason for this is that they all come from the same original species or kind. I hope this gives you a new way to observe what could appear to be evolution. God bless John D |

13 | Is killing scriptual in theNEW TESTAMENT | Matt 5:44 | JohnDiscipleship | 192567
This passage seems to indicate God's incredible mercy and His authority over all things. I don't find it any reason why Christians should kill.
14 | who will be saved? | Hebrews | JohnDiscipleship | 192536
I Believe this passage of scripture was written to the Jews and is a warning about taking what they had for granted. When God gives us an opportunity we should not reject it because we might find that later when we want an opportunity it is gone. Heb 12 v16-17
15 | Sharing the gift of Grace with others | Col 1:6 | JohnDiscipleship | 192500
What a beautiful gift God's grace is!!! We should except it with heart felt gratitude and "become accurately and intimately acquainted with it." When I received God's love it was the best thing that had ever happened to me. To think that I could be set free from a world of punishment into a world of forgiveness, WOW!!! How could I not forgive others after what I had recieved? But there have been times when I have forgotten about what God has done through His Son and have got caught up in the things around me. Thank God that he draws me back and reminds me to keep my eyes firmly fixed on Jesus the author and perfector of my faith. I have learnt to be quick to repent and ask for forgiveness, to forgive others as I have been forgiven, to accept discipline as correction not punishment, to perservere in trials. God values every human being whether Christian or not and wants everyone to come to the full knowledge of His Grace. We are called to be an example of His wonderful healing love that is beyond all explanation. Let us never grow weary in showing how much God has done for us, let us not grow tempted to justify why some are not worth God's love. For "all have sinned and fallen short" Let us instead find ways to share God's love with everyone, lets use all our combined creative abilities to reach the lost, the lonely, the hurting, the bitter, the confused people of this world. Lets stand together with Christ and say "Father forgive them for they do not know what they are doing" lets help them to understand Amen |

17 | Can a Christian reject God's grace | NT general Archive 1 | JohnDiscipleship | 192496
Jeff, I believe that When Jesus says "that we should remain in him" That it is a call to be faithful and if you are faithful you will bear fruit. It is not our responsibilty to bear fruit, it is a natural result of being faithful.
18 | Can a Christian reject God's grace | NT general Archive 1 | JohnDiscipleship | 192463
My grammar can be confussing, What I am saying is that God has the power to save us and that we don't then earn our salvation we work with God in our salvation. John 15v1-17 jesus plainly tells us that it is about remaining in the vine and the purpose of that is to bear fruit. If we don't remain in the vine we will not beear fruit and we will wither and die.
19 | Can a Christian reject God's grace | NT general Archive 1 | JohnDiscipleship | 192461
Yes I do believe that Adam had a choice to obey God, it was through that disobedience that sin entered the world.
20 | Can a Christian reject God's grace | NT general Archive 1 | JohnDiscipleship | 192444
I am not saying that God is powerful enough to save us, but in the keeping part, he needs help. What I am saying is because of Gods love he has given us the same choice Adam had, to choose between good and evil. We should not be decieved as Adam was but live a life in obedience to God as a living sacrifice.
