|1||who was the first person jesus saved?||Bible general Archive 4||John Ryals||230742|
There's no argument of the possibility, but I just commented that I can't find it in the Word. You and I can only pray she did. You know after I looked at the question fully, I wonder if he meant the first person when Jesus was walking on earth?
Have a Blessed Day Brother!

That was the most intellectual, unbiased answer I've ever received to any question I've ever asked on this forum. No need for an apology for the length. It was right on time. And thanks, I have some direction where I can look deeper into my research. Also, thanks for the suggested reference material. I will check it out!
May God Bless You,

|5||What does Prov. 5:16 and 17 mean?||Prov 5:16||John Ryals||230713|
| "Let your fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets. (17) Let them be only your own and not strangers' with you."
It is insensible for man to turn from Wisdom to folly; from the Word of God to man-made religions. The "stangers" once again refers to false doctrine, false apostles, and idol worship.
All of Chapter 5 in PROVERBS, I believe concerns warnings against the providers of false doctrine.

|Could it be Enoch? "And Enoch walked with God: and he was not: God took him." Genesis 5:24
Enoch was one of the two men in history who did not die, Elijah being the other. He was translated, and as Paul said, "that he should not see death" (Heb 11:5)

|11||did god write the bible||2 Tim 3:16||John Ryals||230481|
| (20) "Knowing this first, that no Prophecy of the Scripture is of any private interpretation."(21)"For the Prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but Holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit." @nd Peter 1:20-21
2nd Timothy 3:16-17
"All Scripture is given by Inspiration of God, and is profitable for Doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in Righteousness": (17) "That the man of God may be perfect, thourghly furnished unto all good works.
|12||Jeremiah 10:3-5 what does this mean to y||Jer 10:3||John Ryals||230479|
|The word "customs" refers to the "images of wood," i.e., "idols." The word "people" refers to heathen nations. Thwe "vanity" addressed here, concerning the "cutting of the tree out of the forest," is meant by the Holy Spirit to portray the absurdity of thinkinking that something fashioned by the hands of man could be greater than the hands which fashioned it. This making of an idol is the same as described in Isa. 41:7 and 44:13-17, which could very well have been read by Jeremiah, with the Holy Spirit impressing him strongly to emphasize this great sin once more. Such does not show a weakness in the Text, but rather an emphasis placed by the Holy Spirit on that which He considers it to be very important, by all means,we should, as well!
These passages are sometimes taken to mean the modern Christmas tree, but actually the tree referred to had no branches left on it at all. This refers to a tree trunk being made into an idol, not the Christmas tree
These absurd man-made idols, which "speak not" and which have to be carried about because of having no mobility of their own, are not som ething to be "afraid of." They don't have the power to do "evil" or "good."
Have a very Merry Christmas!
|13||Difference between one's heart and soul||Rom 8:27||John Ryals||230477|
|In the first partial of the scripture where it states, "and He who searches the hearts of men know what the mind of the Spirit is," Does not this mean that God searches our hearts and sees through our intentions and if there is a desire placed there by the Holy Spirit,then and only then he hears and answers our hearts desires? Thinking out loud and would appreciate some feedback from you wonderful scholars.|
|14||Hebrew word for 'serpent'?||Gen 3:1||John Ryals||230346|
|'Nachash,' pronounced naw-khawsh|
|15||What does 'this' refer to||1 Cor 7:6||John Ryals||230344|
|The Holy Spirit, through Paul, leaves the details of lives, whether celibate or married, to the individual consciences, though with large hearted wisdom and charity. He would emancipate them from human and unauthorized restrictions.
In regards to V7, I don't believe this is said by Paul to denigrate marriage as some have claimed; in effect, I believe he is saying that he wished for the Coming Resurrection, when all would be as he was then.
In my opinion the 'this' in V7 is the context Paul was speaking of about 'Married Christians' which goes back to V3-V6.
Happy Thanksgiving and may God grant you the desires of your heart!
|16||Is Belief in the Trinity Required?||Bible general Archive 4||John Ryals||230234|
|Just wanted to offer a scripture to one of the statements you made: "Never does Christ state that the Holy Spirit is a different "person."
If I understand the scripture correctly; Acts 1:4 states: "And,being assembled together with them, Commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the Promise of the Father, which, said He, you have heard of Me.
I believe Jesus is saying that they also heard of this promise from Himself, which the promise is the Holy Spirit! I hope this makes sense to you.
Have a Great Day!

|What does this mean? I'm having difficulties in understanding why proselytizing is being practiced in this thread. Please Help?|
|18||Please expain John 1:1 in layman's terms||John 1:1||John Ryals||230067|
|"In the Beginning" (does not infer that Christ as God had a beginning, because as God He had no beginning, but rather refers to the time of Creation [Gen 1:1] (The Holy Spirit through John descibes Jesus as the 'Eternal Logos'). "And the Word was with God" means that Jesus was in relationship with God,and expresses the idea of the Trinity. 'And the Word was God,' meaning that He did not cease to be God during the Incarnation; He 'was' and 'is' God from eternity past to eternity future. This very Person was in eternity with God; there's only one God but manifested in three Persons---God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit.|
|19||Does faith alone save us?||Gen 15:6||John Ryals||230060|
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift og God."
The great objects of faith are made known by divine revelation, and made credible by the testimony and evidence which God has given us; and that we believe to salvation and obtain salvation through faith.
