7 | Meaning of 1st will be last - last, 1st? | Mark 10:31 | John Hermes | 11921
Hello Steve, I think this verse indicates that God's criterion for salvation is righteousness, and thus worthiness; so that, based on this, there will be those who came in last, but would be first because of worthiness and the unworthy ones who came in first will be last in the kingdom of God. 10 | The message at the wedding at Cana? | John 2:1 | John Hermes | 11828
Dear Nolan. I agree that only GOD shall be worshipped. No other shall be worshipped before Him. There are synonyms of worship that are of lower degrees. Some of these, in descending order, are adore, venerate, revere, honor, esteem, and respect. We do honor our parents, esteem our brethren, and respect all others. John Hermes

12 | What is Jesus' message to us? | John 19:26 | John Hermes | 11809
Hello Nolan. Tim Moran wrote that after Jesus' resurrection, all believers who die go immediately to be with Christ. So where is Mary now that we could "care" for her if we wanted to?
13 | The message at the wedding at Cana? | John 2:1 | John Hermes | 11687
Dear Nolan. I wrote "commend" and not "command." There's a difference. On praying, didn't Jesus say that "no one comes to the Father except through Me?" Did He not mean that there should be no by-passing in the hierarchy? Just asking. John H
14 | The message at the wedding at Cana? | John 2:1 | John Hermes | 11686
Dear Nolan, I am referring specifically to John 2:3-7. Mary's remark to Jesus was a subtle request, isn't it? And Jesus' instructions in v.7 shows acquiesence, doesn't it? While we can go straight to Christ, wouldn't you feel more comfortable if you had an ally to intercede for you? Just asking.
15 | water into wine | John 2:1 | John Hermes | 11684
Hello Jim. I agree with Dr. C. S. Lewis. I think wine is wine, water is water, and grape juice is grape juice. I wonder, did the Greek version of the Bible say grape juice?
16 | The message at the wedding at Cana? | John 2:1 | John Hermes | 11682
Greetings Nolan. There are only two times that Mary was mentioned in the gospel of John, which I think is the most spiritual among the four gospels. In the first mention, we find Mary as a good intercessor for us with Jesus and in the second mention, we find Jesus commending us to the care of Mary and admonishing us to hearken to her. All these always occurred to me whenever I come across these verses. What do you think? John H
17 | water into wine | John 2:1 | John Hermes | 11681
This miracle of Jesus, as Nolan aptly pointed out, showed and attested to His divinity. There were more miracles to come towards this end.
18 | The message at the wedding at Cana? | John 2:1 | John Hermes | 11680
The message I could see here is that: at the first request of His mother, Jesus was reluctant to do something; but when Mary instructed the servants to do what Jesus tells them, Jesus acquiesced to His mother's wish showing us that He listens to His mother regardless of what. Does this not make Mary a good intercessor for us to Jesus? This is the message I could see. Am I right?
19 | What is Jesus' message to us? | John 19:26 | John Hermes | 11676
Every time I read these verses I could not help but think that Jesus commended us (mankind as represented by John) to the care of His Mother. On the other hand, He admonished us (mankind as represented by John) to hearken to His mother. Why do I get this idea? Is it possible?
20 | What is Jesus' message to us? | John 19:26 | John Hermes | 11570
Refer to John 19:26-27 - Jesus gave last instructions at the cross to His mother and John. Can you tell what His message meant?
