1 | Re-phrasing creates more questions... | Gen 3:22 | Jody bug | 197864
I had thought of the saved from the perspective you've written, but I had never thought of the lost that way. Thank you. As concerns "layers" I read the thread you suggested (and most of the responses, but not all), and that was when I realized we're talking about different views of layers. I did appreciate the thread though, I have tons to learn in truly studying the Bible. When I think of layers, I think of layers of understanding or thought, not layers of meaning. To me, we should not add or take away from the Bibles meaning, but strive to understand it. My experiences and growth of thought allow me a deeper layer of understanding. I don't believe the scripture says any less or more, but to me because of the day, the mood I'm in, or what I've read before it, or a discussion I had with someone else, a new truth is revealed to me. It's why every time I read the same scripture (Genesis in this case), I have more questions, or more understanding. I hope this makes sense. Thanks for taking the time to respond to my question. Blessings, Johanne |

3 | Re-phrasing creates more questions... | Gen 3:22 | Jody bug | 197855
Ok, so maybe I'm thinking too much about this, but in this paraphrased version it's almost like God is concerned that if they stay in the garden they may eat from the tree of life? So, why is the fact that they(we) would live forever such a concern? Especially since God offers us this through salvation in Christ Jesus. I can think of reasons like our human bodies weren't meant to live forever, and/or that it wasn't part of God's plan (I can accept I won't know why God does things the way he does all the time). This just seems like an odd thing to throw into the scripture. So, why would this have been included. Maybe to give us an answer why Adam and Eve had to leave? But then I still think there must be more meaning here than I'm grasping. I can't believe some times how many layers there are to scripture. |

Who are Us? Does this mean that there were more than Adam, Eve, and our Lord God (Gen 3:8) in the garden? The amplified version suggests this is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, but could this also be angels? The reason I ask this is because it's suggested in the words "take also" that someone else is eating from the tree of life to live forever, and I don't believe that God would create a tree that he would have to eat from to stay immortal. Can anyone help me out? I'm confused.
