1 | Making Light of Sin | Jer 8:11 | Jesusfriend | 237100
Doc, I don't know how you came to that conclusion reading my post. The bible, which all Christians should take as the only means of true salvation is the only place I get my information. You will very rarely hear me quoting anybody but scripture. I have spent my life studying the bible. I have read many famous Christian authors to my utter disappointment, but on the other hand reading Christian authors gives one the assurance that following man will not lead us to God. I am not saying that reading other Christian writings outside the bible are bad, BUT! we must have our priorities straight and match every word we read about God to His loving word, not the other way around. There are many places in scripture where we are admonished to be perfect, not in a man made sense of "I will sin until I die and still be 'saved'", but in a "he that sinneth is of the devil". I have one question for you sir, When you ask for forgiveness from God during a whole night of praying on your knees before God, or even just a short prayer of forgiveness, how many sins do you have left? Are you not sinless at that moment, if you say you are not sinless at that moment you do not believe Jesus promises and therefore your faith is presumption which has been handed down by man and not God's word. Spurgeon was a great author, but he along with the majority of professors of Christianity are in great error on the most important subject for any Christian, which is "what must I do to be 'saved'". It matters not who preaches the error, it is still error. Jesus did say that the majority of Christians will be lost, and this is the reason. There is nowhere in the bible that tells me I can not ever stop sinning, but it does say that if I do live without sinning and brag about it then I am sinning. I will never say that I am sinless, because a Christians life is all about others not self. When self is dead, which is what baptism is all about, there is no sin. There is no half death either. Most people who are baptised are burried alive, and come out of the water the same as they went in. The thought that we can never overcome all sin in our lives is from the devil not God nor His word. Please read all the overcome verses in Revelation. What must we overcome to receive these blessings? a couple sins? or all sin in our lives. Remember only few followed Jesus when He was alive, and He promised that only few will be "saved". |

2 | Making Light of Sin | Jer 8:11 | Jesusfriend | 237092
I would like to bring the attention of the reader to the fact that Jeremiah is talking about God's people, not some worldly pagans who make sport of mocking God. In fact those who heal only lightly are the leaders of the church at the time, the shepherds of the flock. We as Christians are to stand firm as a rock against these false teachers, especially the ones who say that when we are "saved we can sin but it will be forgiven before we actually commit it. And also those who say that God's TEN commandments are "nailed to the cross". Why would something God wrote with His finger be "nailed to the cross". The "laws contained in ordinances" were what was "nailed to the cross". The laws that Moses wrote in a book, not those written by God Himself. There was a special place for the "book" of the law which Moses wrote. Deuteronomy 31:26 tells us: "Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee." Yes God gave Moses the "ceremonial law" which has all the information they needed at the time to survive the wilderness and to lead the people to Jesus through the sanctuary, until the veil was torn from top to bottom, then the sanctuary service was no longer needed, neither was the rules and ordinances that were given for their safe plight through 40 years of wilderness. 2 John tells us that the "law" that we are to obey is the one that we have had from the beginning, that we follow after His commandments, and His commandments are not grievous. Jesus also came to show man that the TEN commandments can be obeyed. Moses proved it, Daniel proved it, and a host of other examples in the bible. Anyone who says man can never stop sinning is a liar from the devil.
3 | According to Jesus, can we eat pork? | 1 Tim 4:4 | Jesusfriend | 237091
I would like to say that before we ask a blessing over any food we need to know what it is that God did sanctify, and make for food. If we pray over something that God calls an abomination do you believe He will sanctify it to the good of our bodies? No matter what "covenant" we are living under, and no matter what science says about how healthy something is that God curses, does not change the fact that if God says something is an abomination in the OT why would He change His mind when He says over and over that He NEVER changes? Man has been trying to change God forever, along with His word that has been perverted into a thousand different translations.

6 | Why do bads happen to Christians? | Rom 5:12 | Jesusfriend | 237054
We are pilgrims here, just passing through this world in hopes of a better resurrection, but the book of Job gives us a great insight into why God allows misery in the world. Job had trials beyond what any american can imagine, and as one reads through the book of Job and finds that God allowed satan to tempt Job to get him to sin just to show how faithful Job was, this is happening all the time. God allows trials to strengthen our faith. Most of the time when trials come our first response is one of anger and lack of self control, but! when we think of God the moment of the worst trials what happens? Have you tried that? The trial seems to lessen and lessen as we get encouraged with by God's Spirit to hold our tongue and our thoughts, but not without help. God sends power to overcome EVERY trial, and, believe it or not, every temptation to sin. And if we do not overcome we are lost. Yes Jesus died to give sinners hope of the resurrection, and show man that a life without sin is possible. But misery still exists for a reason. |

7 | Do good deeds get you in heaven? | Rev 20:13 | Jesusfriend | 237053
Revelation 20:13 " And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works." This verse tells me that without good deeds we will not get to heaven. BUT! There are many verses that sound like we have to do nothing, and many take those verses out of context and falsely teach people that all you have to do is "call upon the name of the Lord and you are 'saved'". Sure that is a verse in the bible, but it is way out of context. We might not be "saved" by our works, but we sure could be lost without good works. Every man is judged according as his works shall be. |

8 | What about the promise? | Luke 12:24 | Jesusfriend | 237049
You might assume that personally, but if there are tribes of people, like say in Africa who depend on supplies of subsidized food from outside sources and warmongers intercept that food, why blame Jesus? Sin is still the culprit no matter how you slice it. look at how He fed Elijah in the wilderness, the ravens brought him food. I am sure that is not an isolated incident, many have similar stories to tell. Then again look at sodom and gomorrah. God sent fire and brimstone to kill all the inhabitants there so are all wars to be blamed on God? I believe that God will protect His own and supply their every need, BUT! when it comes to apostasy and outright immorality those people have changed masters and God will only protect those who seek Him or are heading that direction, only God knows. Christians are laid to rest while serving a purpose, AKA martyrdom. God will protect those who are doing His work, like Martin Luther, but others, who were martyred like John Hus did all they could and their death at that moment was more influential than the message he was giving. During those days when a Christian was martyred many joined the Christian ranks. God has plans that are so far above our reasoning. When God chooses to let people die, or even causes their death it is for His glory, not mine to speculate about. |

9 | Why does God allow world hunger? | Luke 12:24 | Jesusfriend | 237029
Your answer was the best that you could give on this subject. God has allowed satan to have power over man as a test, read Job. In Luke 10:18 we read: "And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven." and another verse in Revelation 12:7 "And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,...12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time." Read the whole chapter of Revelation 12. The dragon is satan and the woman is the church good and bad. God cast satan to earth and gave him power as evidenced by the book of Job. Whether God "allows" world hunger is quite a stretch for me. He allowed the devil to come to earth to tempt man in order that man might be made stronger in Christ as we pray for strength to overcome the wiles of the foe. So I believe the devil is doing all he can to win souls for his kingdom too, including world hunger. AAMOF God doesn't allow these things, sin causes them. |

10 | Must a Christian attend church? | Heb 10:25 | Jesusfriend | 237019
Hebrews 10:25 tells us this, "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching." Here is a good example of what Paul admonished the Hebrews to do, and although this includes attending church it also includes the fulfillment of Jesus promise found in Matthew 18:20 "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them." Going to church is good and honorable, but when church tries to make the bible fit their denomination we need to find another church that makes the denomination fit the bible. Although personally I do not attend any formal worship service weekly, I assemble together having bible studies online, and whenever I get a chance any time any where. As for belonging to a denomination, the main focus should be "sola scriptura" the bible only. Any church tradition or dogma that twists God's word is something we should steer clear of. |

11 | Where dinosaurs before Biblical times? | Bible general Archive 4 | Jesusfriend | 237003
Through my studies of scripture and little knowledge of archeology I have reasoned through this using the 900 year life span principle. The earth before the flood was a wonder world. With the preflood fossils science has found that are quite larger than post flood fossils, one can only come to the conclusion that animals grew and grew for hundreds of years to amazing sizes. Even though Noah put two of every creature into the ark many of them were neuter young just to save space. After the flood many of the dinosaur species didn't grow as massive as they did preflood. The atmosphere was different, among many other factors involved. The bible does tell us that all living creatures were vegetarians before the flood. Genesis 1:29 "And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so." It was after the flood when God added animal flesh to the diet in Genesis 9:3 "Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things." There is also leviathan and behemoth, found in the bible, which some consider to be dinosaurs. |
