2 | People's revelation only an inspiration? | 2 Tim 2:15 | Jayram | 138977
You are right that All Scripture is inspired, but that does not mean that everything that is inspired is Scripture...it can be based on Scripture.
3 | Study Bible | 2 Tim 2:15 | Jayram | 138971
Hi Lissa, Please see the thread to Steve's mail. I would add however, that the Word of God is like raw meat and the Holy Spirit the Able Cook. He will ensure that the right revelation is made to you through the study of the Word. Other people's revelation is only an inspiration, but God will give you each day a personal revelation as you study his Word. Study bibles will only assist you feebly in that. NOTHING should or even closely substitute the Word of God. So that is why I do not bother about what is said about an author..The Only TRUTH is the Word, and anythinh that falls short of it, is to be ignored. |

4 | Is Sex before marriage a sin? | 1 Cor 7:2 | Jayram | 138964
I agree with mommapbs. The very fact that we ask the question means there ought to be something wrong about sex before marriage. Because anything that is done without conviction is sin, it follows that it becomes sin..in addition to that has been mentioned. Sex before marriage does not Glorify our master..we are just conforming to the world and follow its urges..the very thing from which our Master died to free us. |

5 | Study Bible | 2 Tim 2:15 | Jayram | 138963
Hi Lissa, I am sorry for not responding earlier as I was travelling. I hear what has been mentioned regarding Scoffield and Dake bibles and more on the latter through the Web site. Lissa, I guess since I was the one initiating discussion on Dake, I need to respond. Whatever help you use to study the Bible, only the Bible is the Truth, others are only a mere attempt to explain. The Holy Spirit will guide you and assist you to discern what is not according to the Spirit of His Word. What I like with Dake are the cross references and references to greek words that are used. Also the listing of items of same theme that assist in studying that theme. He does attempt to explain a few things here and there, but I would ignore if that is not unequivocally backed by a verse. Now as to his faults of the past as mentioned in the website, I choose to ignore because I am not the Master to judge nor the devil to accuse. I am sure in his death bed he has set himself right before God. All I do is glorify God for the wonderful piece of work he has done WITHOUT A computer... sorry to be so long |

7 | Don't come back I ask you to stay home | Rom 16:17 | Jayram | 99264
Wilbo, confusion comes the devil and that is how he tries to break the Church. Sometimes we tend to over react at a shocking news, but with some stepping back we are able to get a better perspective of the words of the PAstor. If we analyse the PAstor's words, he said if you are animated with the evil spirit of creating confusion, then it would be better for you to stay at home and come back only if you have sorted out your thoughts..Does that sound better? If it is, then it is what in substance the Pastor was trying to say. let me tell you one thing I have learnt...we as a congregation, we are as strong as our WEAKEST link..I think that the Pastor realsies it and, albeit not so kindly, but is trying to drive home to you that that Unity and HArmony of thoughts (Oneness) is VITAL. Lets us assume for one second that the PAstor is in the wrong, then as a Christian your duty is to pray for him and continuously do so and speak to him, in love and in a constructive spirit. Going would be an own goal, to use the soccer term. ANd believe me we are opening ourselves as easy prey for the devil. |

8 | Abel's sacrifice better than Cain's? | Heb 11:4 | Jayram | 96391
I do not really subscribe to that. The answer lies in teh ensuing verses and Heb 11:4..Cain had a bad attitude and that was evidenced by him murdering his brother...
9 | Women Preachers? Yes or No? | Bible general Archive 2 | Jayram | 96389
Agreed, but who does not allow Women to be leaders of men? God? Paul said "I do not permit"...He did not say God does not permit, actually I have not seen where it say God does not permit women to teach or to lead. I believe,it could not be so at the time of the apostles, because it was not plausible like recently it was not plausible for women to vote. Men cannot have any more value than women in the sight of God, He died equally for both and also we are ALL the temples of the Spirit. To all of us he has given different ministries, including teaching...God looks at the heart and our commitment. I might be wrong in my conviction, I cannot see any differentiation made between men and women, except at home, where the structure is still the same to-day as then.
10 | Women Preachers? Yes or No? | Bible general Archive 2 | Jayram | 95223
I take your point. Obedience is a requirement of all not only of women..When Paul said it is a shame..why would it be a shame? If it is not with the era...God does not make preference, like there would be no women/man in Heaven..There will be just the believers who have completed the race sucessfully. What then is the conclusion? Shall we men stop women from having a function in the Church..when there are so many women who have brought so many souls to OUR LORD. |

11 | Women Preachers? Yes or No? | Bible general Archive 2 | Jayram | 94715
I agree with you, but there is still the law that we MUST abide by, and still not befriending the world, ie driving on the right side of the road for example. When Paul refers to the law, and if it is a scriptural law, there is always a reference to the Scriptures. I would love to know which part of the Scrpiture he would base himself to say that women are not allowed to teach. The Old Testament has reference to Women leaders. I am not arguing, please do not get me wrong, but this is good and healthy discussion.
12 | Women Preachers? Yes or No? | Bible general Archive 2 | Jayram | 94711
My views are that the law of the land of that time did not allow women to be in any sort of authority. "It is not permitted"...would normally refer to a general and known fact that women are not to be leaders of that time. The ensuing recommendations are in pursuance to that fact.
13 | Providing with Life Assurance-Biblical? | Bible general Archive 2 | Jayram | 94704
May I quote you 1 Tim 5v 8, where the Bible teaches us that WE should take care of people of our household, and that task is endowed to us here. Of course God will assist us in so doing, and if we use our faith. And so goes for the church. Can't God provide for his own church, but He expects us to contribute by giving to the Church. His attitude is not faith but folly. By contributing to a life assurance, he is saving for the people of his household. He ought to let his wife decide for her own faith with God. But the brother ought to do what is right for him, ie provide for the people of his household, otherwise he would be worse that unbelievers. Hope that helps. Also pray before talking to him. The Holy Spirit will guide you through and will put the right words in your mouth when speaking to him. There is no more difficult interviewee that someone who is convinced he is in the right. |

14 | Why is tithing yet preached today? | Lev 27:30 | Jayram | 94696
It is my belief that if we put tithing as a REQUIREMENT, then it does not have its place. This does not mean that Christians should not tithe, as the promises accompanying tithing are multiple. However, tithing gives to Christians a minimum to give away. In such a matrialistic world, money has become such a sensitive issue. Let me take you to Matt 7:2 "For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you. This follows the remark that Our Lord made about that woman who gave all she had...God is not interested with absolute, HE already is. What He is interested in is the VALUE. He asked Abraham for his ONLY son in sacrifice. Was he interested in any son, NO. Tithing is not only about money, but also about EVERYTHING. Are we ready to give to God AT MINIMUM our 1/10 of our BEST????
15 | who was the deciple whom Jesus loved | John 13:33 | Jayram | 94586
I understan your confusion. This phrase is being said by a disciple for another disciple. I do not think it is the same John???
16 | SPOUSE OR CHILD? | Bible general Archive 2 | Jayram | 94582
Not at all, the Bible teaches that in 1 Tim 5v8, that we need to take care of our family otherwise we are worse than unbelievers... 1 Tim 5:8 But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever. If you are one of the children..Jesus said I shall not forsake you..and God can change all situations...

19 | who was the deciple whom Jesus loved | John 13:33 | Jayram | 94579
This is a funny question, I refer to the short one. This title is referred to John, but never has Jesus said or done to infer that He loved John better. John had a RELATIONSHIP with Jesus, and he was the last one to leave Jesus when He was on the cross. Because he maintained that relationship - closeness and ready to listen- that he was labelled as the disciple that Jesus loved. I think this should be every believers' crave - to be labelled as the one who Jesus Loves..
20 | Temptation - Physical or in thought? | Matt 4:5 | Jayram | 94269
When Jesus was tempted by the devil and HE was placed on a turret, how did that happen: First how can HE be taken by the devil and secondly was he physically transported from the wilderness to Holy City v5 and on top of the high mountain v8. My feelings are that this happened in his thoughts?? But then HE was in control of his thoughts. |
